Jun 24, 2020 See what I don't understand is why you think Em's verse is that much better or had more effort put into it. When you get down to the brass tacks, what they're rapping about isn't all that different. I personally like Young M.A.'s part more on this song because I think her more laid-back approach works better on the instrumental. But anyway: "Yeah, her a--- fake, but she came for real" "Cause I met your b---- on the internet now I'm getting head like a Pillow Pet" "b----, I'm tryna eat out, take your plate mode (Hello)" "Tip of the backwood is where the flame goes" "I don't smoke but I got paper, to be blunt, I'm rolling Indo" "I just want some face but this is no facial (Ooh)" "That bimbo can put her lips all the way around this bone and then blow Like a dusty cartridge from an old Nintendo" "What up, Marshall? I'm a martian, I'm in Wayne mode (Facts)" "Call us liquid plumber, 'cause even Dre know (Dre know)" This stuff isn't all that different from each other...I mean Em even follows suit on the rhyme scheme that she set up at the beginning of the song into his first verse and then comes back to it in his second verse. Maybe the only value you could possibly see in this verse is that you think she's a diversity hire, but I like it on its own merit. At the end of the day it seems more like you personally don't see any value in her style as a rapper than anything. And you've said yourself that no other rappers sound as good as eminem to you, and if you only like rappers that sound like Eminem, that narrows your rap music library to like, Eminem, old Royce da 5'9'' and Hopsin.
Jun 24, 2020 The line by line comparison just emphasises how eminems lines are much more complex, wittier and funnier. Her wordplay is just first association you get for a given phrase, eminem finds meanings you'd never go for while also being funny and rhyming everything.
Jun 24, 2020 "I don't smoke but I got paper, to be blunt" "blow like a dusty cartridge from an old Nintendo" ^^^hard disagree lol. The EVEN DRANO (DRE KNOW) line is corny in a good way to me (like it's so bad it's good like drake's chaining tatum line) but it's not exactly mindbowing in terms of meaning. This all kinda just proves my point that you're much more predisposed to like em because you value his style of rap more than any other rapper...which is fine, but you don't have to bring other rappers down to bring him up. There can be value in two rappers having different styles of rapping and two writing. I feel like I've been over this comparison before but think about it like two different authors having two different styles of writing, one isn't inherently better just because it adheres to a certain style.
Jun 24, 2020 Wait, wait, the full line is "I dont smoke but I got paper, to be blunt, I'm rolling indo (in dough)" and its a great line. I dont necessarily want to undermine young ma's verse, I was just saying that finding faults in eminems writing and then praising young ma's verse is not consistent way to judge things. As for me enjoying one style as opposed to the other, it's hard to find a rule for it. For example, I enjoy 2pac a lot, but he is very simplistic, so its not like I need complex wordplay. But, when someone is doing wordplay, I guess more complex the better. I love when lil wayne is at his best with it, probably because its also funny a lot of the times.
Jun 26, 2020 It’s hilarious how much hate Recovery gets when it’s a classic album! Em 2010 was awesome. He gave us Recovery and then his epic Forever verse. People hated it just because he teamed up with Rhianna after dissing pop stars for over a decade. Recovery has sold over 16 million to date just proving how much of a success this album was.
Jul 25, 2020 No matter what. Em's albums seem to age good after time. I still f--- with Revival. It's unappreciated. He has some good gems in there. Just a horrible cover. Amazing marketing. Couldn't believe how good the marketing was but the album was half as. But look what we got after. Revival was a blessing to have a in a way.
Jul 25, 2020 The marketing was a mess. What are you remembering? It verged on brilliant and then they ditched the whole link in with that medical website
Jul 25, 2020 Nobody cant deny that Revival has some classic on it... Believe, Castle & Arose are prime Eminem like Toy Soliders, Yellow Road & Mockingbird... Em in the pastbalways put classic tracks in every album
Jul 25, 2020 Castle and Arose are good but super overrated. Mostly because the writing in Castle is kinda garbage. Believe is Top tier Em at his best, and WOW is super underrated.
Jul 26, 2020 I think WOW suffers from what a lot of songs suffered from during this time. Dumb as f--- lines. The khaki line for example, feels so forced. I love walk on water but there's some questionable lines
Jul 26, 2020 Stepping stone was most likely recorded back in the day and pulled from the vault. You can tell the recording quality is different then the rest of the album. Just like beautiful on relapse.
