Why does nobody seem to care about Ludacris's 2000's run? Is his music dated?

Seriously, prior to Hopsin lately, I haven't seen any prominent rapper have Luda in their top 5/top 10 list, name him as one of the GOAT's, hype up any of his albums as classics, cite him as an influence, talk about his impact on the game, or play/remix his old hits besides maybe "Move b----."

Mind you, Luda was going platinum like crazy for a while, could actually spit, had hits on hits, decent features, and none of his albums are truly bad.

It's like his music run had no real staying power and, when people talk about the history of Atlanta's rap scene, he doesn't get brought up much. Even Gucci gets more props than him.

Why do you think this is though?

Yeah, it's weird. He used to be dope, but now he's just that dude from F&F.

Theater Of The Mind was still good. I don't remember much after that other than How Low and My Chick Bad feat Nicki.

He hasn't really been relevant music wise for quite a while so that's probably why we don't hear about him. Chamillionaire is another good example of a good artist who never gets mentionned nowadays.

But you're right, he's a talented rapper and should probably get talked about more.

This was my s--- back in highschool

    Luda absolutely bodied that track.

Ludacris is mad underrated . I think it’s because he tried to keep going when he was just done. So people look at his last s---. People also looked at him as kind of a joke rapper and not a mic.

but in all reality a Luda fan knows he had bars

I like Luda, but I can take or leave his albums after Chicken-N-Beer outside of a couple songs on each

He's a weird one because I'm not sure if his music necessarily sounds dated but more he as a rapper seems dated just because he's been a bonafide actor for so long now.

Luda has always been dope to me and always will be. I'm really hoping he makes a new album.

Luda is shamefully underrated. I still listen to the first 3 or 4 albums often.

the Ludaversal album was pretty good too.

Depending on how I'm feeling at the time, Luda is in my top 10. Or at the very least an HM.

Only bad album he's released is Battle of the Sexes. Can always guarantee h--- have at least a couple of bangers on each album.

I don't get it, I mean Ludacris has been one of the most mentioned rappers in the 2000s and now it's like... his albums don't even exist anymore.

I've been listening to some of his music and his flow is good, his lyrics are exceptional and there are some duds yes but it's not like he's terrible or anything. If anything the dude's smart and funny as h---.

I guess hip-hop has really dethatched itself from the ideology that it set up like a while back. Or maybe it's always been "the hottest rapper will always be the GOAT" type of influence that hip-hop has held on to for a while now.

Used to be an obvious GOAT but holy s--- did this man fall off

Word of Mouf, Chicken N' Beer, and Red Light District will always be some of my favorite albums, though.

Disagree... Albums like "Release Therapy" and "Battle of the Sexes" will be misses but "Ludaversal" and "Theater of the Mind" are dope imo.

I think it's all about what you've been doing lately.

Unless you're a legend like 2 Pac or Biggie, people generally don't talk about rappers who aren't putting out new music or aren't in the news.

We could say the same about Chamillionaire, Nelly and several other guys who were really popular in the 2000s but aren't releasing music anymore.

Same with DMX. Prior to him being in the hospital he was pretty much a ghost like Luda. No one was talking about him or discussing his music.

Luda was honestly my introduction to Atlanta hip-hop because he was at the height of his popularity when I was in middle school and first started getting into rap.

Basically this but I have a soft spot for The Red Light District

If you're ever at the Atlanta airport go to his fried chicken joint it's bomb (and the airport is its only location lol).
