Sep 8, 2016 Is it simply because in the political and social climate of 2015 TPAB touched on a topic that everyone could relate to? Or do you really think the writing, production and cohesion was better than gkmc? Did gkmc have a song as bad as For Free? Imo it didn't and is the stronger project.
Sep 8, 2016 [QUOTE="SIiK, Did gkmc have a song as bad as For Free? Imo it didn't and is the stronger project.[/QUOTE] Firstly, f--- off, For Free is a great track. And yes it did, its called real. Personally, i preferred the jazzy instrumentals to the glossy GKMC production.
Sep 8, 2016 Because it's a lot better, the production is a lot better, the music is a lot better gkmc is more easy to listen if you're a casual hip hop fan though. For the record, I also think s80 is better.
Sep 8, 2016 From an artistic standpoint, Tpab is like twice as good as GKMC. The album's strenght is the music: the composition, the production, kendrick's ability to incorporate variations forms of classic music in his rap (only pharoahe monch doing that, and now young thug). Kendrick really went back to the various stages of black music. This album features both the rhythmic spoken word & classic/traditional poetry that were both used outside of mainstream jazz music few decades ago. Despite not being used by white artists trying to popularize jazz in the mainstream, these aspects of jazz music still influenced early hip hop. This album can really be described as a "black" album, all of it, and it was done extraordiry well imo. If you really love music, then it's hard not to consider tpab as a better album, it really features soem of the best jazz and funk elements we have heard in years, but then again kendrick worked with the best musicians in the game.
Sep 8, 2016 GKMC is better. I guess people like the message more on TPAB, but GKMC Is just the best album of this decade imo
Sep 8, 2016 Musically, maybe. But a rap albums most important aspect should be the rapping and I think the lyrics and flows on gkmc are better. Plus production on both albums fit the concepts very well.
Sep 8, 2016 It's the second best album of the decade after mbdtf, in any genre, it's as simple as that. I love jazz and it's obvious Kendrick didn't half-a--- it.. It's something that is rare in hip-hop with artists who are rapping over this type of production, everything is as good as it can be. On the other hand, Gkmc had way too many flaws and average tracks (compton, real, poetic justice,) and even the great tracks have flaws, specially the production.
Sep 8, 2016 The flows are actualy much stronger on tpab, the transitions between rhythmic levels are a lot more creative and unique. The rhythmic spoken words parts were also more impressive then the rapping on gkmc imo
Sep 8, 2016 Rigarmotis is like the kendrick song with the most basic composition lol, and I love the song
