Sep 9, 2016 Also, it looks like nobody is denying that tpab > gkmc, just that some people may have a special connection to gkmc or that it has more replay value because they're more into traditional rap. personnaly speaking, tpab > s80 > gkmc
Sep 9, 2016 It's a lot more consistent. I wasn't completely sold on the full album when it dropped but I've found myself constantly going back to it and listening in full. The highs are higher on gkmc but as an entire body of work, tpab wins. Also the production is >>>>>>>>
Sep 9, 2016 The production on gkmc fits the theme perfectly though, as does the production on TPAB. I think gkmc is a better body of work due to its cohesion and carefully crafted story. That album truly is like a film the way it plays out. It's a perfectly crafted album. I think the themes and sounds on TPAB are more appealing to people (especially those branching out from pure hip hop or those who are fans of kid cudi, kanye west, Drake and those sounds). I see TPAB as kendrick's MBDTF but gkmc is like his Illmatic. Both are fantastic but I think they were designed to appeal to different audiences. I guess why I'm asking "why is TPAB considered better" is because I think they are both made to be completely different but I think the level of quality is very similar.
Sep 9, 2016 Really don't get it either. GKMC was a classic. TPAB to me is just a great album. People kinda forced the TPAB classic narrative. I don't know. I'm kinda biased because TPAB isn't all that to me.
Sep 9, 2016 I feel exactly the same tbh. For Free isn't genius. It's well written but it doesn't sound appealing at all to me
Sep 9, 2016 Kanye took more chances with his last two albums than College Dropout but that didn't make people fall in love with them the way they did with TPAB
Sep 10, 2016 Because it's much better tbh Tpab is a f---ing masterpiece, gkmc is just a good to great album to me, never got the hype for it like that (I don't get all the love for sxn80 either)
Sep 10, 2016 I'm getting sick of these threads man. People gotta accept the fact that loving/liking/hating/being indifferent about this album is all just subjective. In my opinion, its a great f---ing album, and i'm not a Besky. But not everyone gotta agree man.
Sep 10, 2016 I agree that they were both designed to appeal for different audiences, but that doesn't mean one can't be better than the other. I think kendrick did a better job with tpab, specially musically speaking. It's one of those albums that I may not like much at first but will completely BLOW my mind after a while.
Sep 10, 2016 It's not like Kendrick played the instruments homie the only direct comparison that can be made for Kendrick's contribution to the albums is the writing and rapping and tbh i think it's better on gkmc. Sure Kendrick's team did a fantastic job on the beats but is that really why tpab is better? Just cuz of the jazzy beats? Smh it's a rap album
Sep 10, 2016 Its a like saying "Take Care was good, but the production on Views is amazing so it's obviously the better album"
