Oct 20, 2021 Imagine this... Kendrick been absent for more than 4 years, dropped an album on Friday that's very meh and disappeared for another 4-5 years.
Oct 20, 2021 Those gaps between recovery and MMLP2 and revival were brutal I believe each of those albums were 4 to 5 years apart Hopefully if this album does drop and dre and Em follow shortly after each album gets it's time to shine
Oct 20, 2021 3 years between Recovery and MMLP2 (hype for mmlp2 was so unreal) And 4 years between MMLP2 and Revival I was all hyped for Revival etc, but whatever happened, happened, let's not go that far lol
Oct 20, 2021 I am the minority here but I only enjoyed GKMC, nothing after that. I just don’t get it. Does anyone else feel this way?
Oct 20, 2021 I felt almost the same. To me, GKMC is the most representative hip hop album of the past decade. I don't like TPAB and all the social justice warrior s--- and d--- is...weird. I like some songs on those projects but nothing more.
Oct 20, 2021 Never understand why people get offended when musicians & others like to talk about life instead of nothing but bollocks like normal rappers do.
Oct 20, 2021 I can't say I'm a fan of the album but acting like Kendrick talking about serious s--- being lame is f---ing r-----ed
Oct 20, 2021 TPAB & d---. are a lot more abstract than GKMC, with d---. having a few radio attempts as exceptions. I understand why the projects can be polarising due to the unfamiliar formatting but if you live with them for a period of time you might just start to appreciate them. There’s a reason artists like Kendrick have such cult followings, people do in fact enjoy when something isn’t an instant gratification until the next ‘b-----r’ drops. People enjoy having a record on rotation, dissecting pieces to the puzzles, understanding intertwined concepts, hearing even just one line that can make you pause a track & rewind it, or sit & analyse passages & so on. It’s art, it’s not meant to be used once & tossed away instantly, these people spend years passionately crafting music like a TPAB. This fast food culture of consumption is really doing a number on so many of you.
Oct 20, 2021 strongly agree W you. Though if I had to guess I'd assume it's because a lot of people see music as an escape (the same way they do with many forms of entertainment) so when topics show up in music that they're constantly reading all day about on social media, the news, at work etc. they seem to start getting aggravated. I think they fail to consider that, artist will from time to time, talk about their personal feelings, experiences, and have social commentary show in their work. Plus, when people hate on that it makes it seem like they either A. disagree with the artist take or B. only look at the entertainer as that, an entertainer and not a person (shut up and dribble/rap/run/act)
