Jan 24, 2017 I listened to his album front to back last night and it's a classic. I hadn't listened to it in a few months so I popped it on. Highlights made me feel like I was walking into a black tie event.
Jan 24, 2017 The April patch was the best version of it. Didn't bother keeping Junes patch. I enjoyed it from the start. It lacks that concept that Kanye albums have but it's still a great piece of work!
Jan 25, 2017 I agree but also want you to elaborate. Without context it's gonna be hard for people to separate it even though he straight up says that they're bonus tracks. For me it feels exactly like WTT in that everything after Wolves/Why I Love You is a victory lap or encore.
Jan 25, 2017 To add to that: I think a lot of newer Kanye listeners are going to rate it higher than those who have been around since CD. Most people I know who became listeners in the past few years were surprised when I said I'd rank it 5th or 6th in his catalogue.
Jan 25, 2017 I still rate it down a the bottom of his discography. right now I think it's in last place. I don't think I'd pick listening to it over any other Kanye album if given the choices. and I'm not saying it's a bad project either. But there's something about this album that overall just feels incomplete to me. it doesn't have a definitive identity or concept really (that I've picked up on at least). and I still don't know 100% if 30 Hours and onward is bonus. Yeah he says 30 hours is a bonus in the outro of the song but there's nothing else there to separate them. there's no legitimate 'standard edition' where it ends with wolves. and while the song patches were a kind of cool concept, in the end I just found it more irritating and confusing. I don't think I'm up to date on any of the songs maybe I just don't see the big picture yet, but I don't think I'll ever consider it a classic.
Jan 25, 2017 Yea. Kids in like 25 years are gonna go back and listen to Kanye albums like we did with the Beatles and s---
Jan 25, 2017 gonna be seen like the white album where track placement dont make any sense and its got 2 different themes. Now that i think about it its exactly like the white album.
Jan 25, 2017 maybe even get back, because most of the songs were done and he went back and treated them during the last month of the album. We can see this with tracks like nina chop getting a complete makeover, fsmh becoming much shorter, ultra light beam becoming the opener, and with all the changes between demos and now
