Jul 4, 2023 I didn't know Maylay produced Arena Rap! Arena Rap is all time top 5 albums for me along with PRyhme and Em's first 3! I met Yela a few times but the first time at a Meet&Greet in Detroit in '13 (right before Love Story dropped), I told him he needed to make music in the vein of Arena Rap. He looked me in the eye real serious and said "Dawg, Love Story is basically just Arena Rap 2." I then serenaded him with the chorus to "Enjoy The View;" halfway through the security guard dude said, "O-Kay, no need to serenade the talent" but Yela was cracking up cheahcheahchehahcehahcheahcheah; super amped now for Michael Wayne bc Maylay produced cheah!!!!

Jul 5, 2023 His discog is actually quite impressive at this point. Trunk Musik 0-60, Love Story, Ghetto Cowboy and Mudmouth are all top tier imo. Several of his side projects as well (Hotel, Black Fall, Arena Rap etc..) He's had a few misses but overall his output has been consistent af. It's crazy to me that not more people are into his music. He's really talented. The fact that he dips into different genres also deserves more recognition.
Jul 5, 2023 Yela isn't great at making really consistent projects in my opinion. Generally I find his albums to be mixed bags, not as good as they could be, but he's super creative and there's always a couple of songs I love on them. He's unique in the genre for sure. Prolific too. Looking forward to his return to rap.
Jul 5, 2023 I agree I don’t think I’ll ever be a Yelawolf “fan” necessarily, but he definitely has his moments and deserves the recognition for it. I think Love Story is a fantastic album. I like most of TM3, I enjoy a good handful from Ghetto Cowboy. I haven’t heard a project in full since Ghetto Cowboy tho
Jul 6, 2023 Love the fast rap he does on features like Worldwide Choopers. He killed it. They all did actually. Busta went in too. I've honestly never heard a bad feature from Yela. Whether he's doing a chorus or a verse for someone.
