Nov 20, 2015 August Alsina talked about Drake, J. Cole and his family in a new interview. In a sit-down with Complex, the New Orleans crooner spoke about that text message he received from one of his family members. Even though it was extremely personal he still had to post it, he said. "I had to share that. I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't." said Alsina. "That's my truth. Some people might say 'Oh, that's your family. You can't expose your family or whatever.' That's not family. If you speak to me that way, you're not family." In that shocking text message, Alsina's cousin mentioned something about his brother being killed, which the singer touched on. He said the pain of losing his sibling still grips him to this day, and at this point he thinks people are trying to k--- him. "My brother is not here to defend himself," stated the "No Love" creator. "That part bothers me. I know what bothers them is there is nothing you can do to me me lose. It's like I can't be around these people, because you hate me so much that you'll k--- me." "You'll try to k--- me just, so you don't have to see me live my life. You don't even mind spending time in jail, because you killed me," added the R&B star. Elsewhere in the interview, August talked about a line from the cut "Song Cry," off his forthcoming album "This Thing Called Life." In it, he referenced Drake and J. Cole. According to the singer, he reached out to both rappers to be on the song, but it never materialized. "I literally talked to Cole about hopping on that song. I literally talked to Drake about hopping on that song," explained August. "Cole actually called me and was like 'Man, I love the song, but I just feel I don't like have anything to offer' ... He also said he's trying to move in a different direction. Whatever direction that is I don't know." "And Drake, he told me that he would do the record too, several times but you know everybody out here living their own life ... I got love for those guys," he added.
