It always has been and I've given that recognition, but today, I listened to the whole tape again and for some reason gained a whole new appreciation for it.

Future crooning his pain over Zaytoven's keys is amazing. I love this little bit from the Pitchfork review for Beast Mode,

"At first it seems like a continuation of the aggy sexual and emotional revenge tactics of Monster (see: "My Savages"’ "You think I’m sitting up depressed?/ I’m somewhere counting up me a check," "Throw Away's "I was f---ing on a slut and I was thinking about you") but the deeper you delve into Beast Mode, the more it comes off as the vice grip headache and hangover to Monster’s seedy rager."

I gave her the game and I ran with it

I took a few losses and ran with it

Beast Mode is definitely a continuation of the themes in Monster. I think the conclusion in Codeine Crazy not only emphasizes this in themes, but also in the soundscape. It's based on more simple lego-ish synths like zaytoven likes to use instead of the distorted horror flick soundscape in the rest of the album.

I don't think Pitchfork picked up on the undertones of Monster though. It's not like it's a tape about anger and emotional revenge. It's more of an emotional wasteland where future is drowning himself in all means of escapism to avoid confronting his own feelings. (Eventually failing on Throw Away, hence the beat change.)
