Apr 22, 2017 MJ may have a bad image post posthumously, but his legacy in music is still there. Over the years, I have heard many different new artists get compared to him; Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, and most recently, the Weeknd. The Weeknd has been my favorite musician ever since I heard 2015's the Hills, I went back and listened to all of his old music and now his music is just my favorite entertainment. But I'm not going to be biased about this; I think Bruno Mars does a greater job of emulating Bruno. And when I say emulate, not at all do I mean the "next" MJ. There will never be another MJ. There will never be another superstar celebrity bigger than him; not even Taylor Swift. But as for just overall delivery, I give it to Bruno. The Weeknd often has a hard time stretching his vocals. in his 3rd one he doesn't even try the original: I don't think Bruno has this sort of problem when he performs live but I could be wrong. Either way though I still like the Weeknd's music better; he is my favorite, but Bruno Mars is still dope. Which of these two musicians reminds you more of MJ?
Apr 22, 2017 Bruno for his popularity in pop culture, Weeknd for vocals. edit: neither really, overall. From a singing stance yes, but you have to remember MJ was a great entertainer and dancer PLUS his singing. The closest we've ever had was JT honestly but even he barely scratches the surface.
Apr 22, 2017 bruno mars is a r----- lol. like who the f--- will remember him 10 years from now? he is a dot compared to MJ
Apr 22, 2017 Bruno has a bit of a different sound I think. Weeknd is great, but sometimes he just sounds like he's blatantly trying to be MJ...and he took my boo Selena
Apr 22, 2017 was just going to post this. Bruno tries harder to be MJ in image and on stage but Weeknd literally is MJ if he was around in this era
Apr 22, 2017 s---... music wise... I honestly just don't know at this point. Appearance wise? Probably Bruno Mars
Apr 22, 2017 I honestly dont think either compare to MJ. Chris Brown is a better comparison and he's even pretty far away
Apr 22, 2017 Neither tbh lol But I'd say Bruno jist based of the "swag" and the fact that the Weeknd's imitation of MJ is really bad lol
May 16, 2017 Bruno Mars doesn't really take risks with his content preferring to stay safe and emulate 70s hits. Weeknd takes risks, has created a world that draws people in and knows how to make albums that mesh his MJ sensibilities and his next level content. I like you Bruno but sorry. Weeknd wins this one by a wide margin.
May 16, 2017 every weeknd project is worse than the one that came before it and he has no stage presence lol
