Aug 1, 2017 c.robin talks SoundCloud & Chaldean Heritage Did a quick interview with him for an article for SoundsPurple. Tagging everyone who posted in the Order 66 thread. He's got a lot of potential especially as a producer, check him out if you haven't already. @Tarvis Scatt @Cunner @Pookie @TylerWaves @Gucci FlipFlops @6 Tre @Lover @Hypebeasts
Aug 1, 2017 I'm not knocking the interview or writing (I didn't get that far), but his music. Just... no. Pretty sure I've seen a song or two from him pop up on the forum before, and I forgot about it because it wasn't worth remembering. Checking out some of the tracks on this album did nothing to improve my opinion of his music, if anything, it's worsened. The production is nothing special, and is in fact, sort of s-----y at times, and the vocals, Idk how many f---ing times I've heard a random up and comer on soundcloud do that s---... and I've heard it in CreativeSXN ffs, but done better.
Aug 1, 2017 If you read the interview he talks about how Goofy Tunes was archetypal soundcloud rap and he likens his autotune vocals to SC rappers and hopes to move beyond that as he matures as an artist. I think most of the production is great and Order 66 shows a very clear progression from his last project. He's a young artist still figuring out his sound.
Aug 1, 2017 I mean that's great and all that he's self aware about it, but it doesn't change anything about that album sounding like it does.
Aug 1, 2017 And that's fine if you don't like it, I'd just rather have you post this sort of constructive criticism than not reading the article and posting a Jordan face.
Aug 1, 2017 Idk how you feel insulted by "white Soundcloud rapper" when you literally admit you sound like a f---ing white Soundcloud rapper lol. If anything, that just proves the term goes beyond racial boundaries and is aimed at a lazy aesthetic that a bunch of amateurs are using. Cool piece though. You should interview MIKE.
Aug 1, 2017 Oops, I didn't mean to imply he said he sounded like a "white soundcloud" rapper specifically (not sure if I miswrote or you misread). But yeah, I don't think he was so much insulted as much as frustrated due to the "too white for middle easterners, too middle eastern for whites" thing. Like I said, I think he's got a lot of potential and is still finding his sound. Thanks though, I'll give this a listen.
Aug 1, 2017 He's already got that record reviewed by Pitchfork, and he's friends with Earl Sweatshirt. So he'll be big, even if it is in his own niche.
