Anticipation for this release for me personally was very high because judging by Dre's previous solo efforts and the fact he stalled and eventually canceled the release of Detox shows me he's a perfectionist of the highest level.

After listening for the very first time what really stood out for me straight away was the production, it was unorthodox, creative and it produced a storyline within the song.

Rather than a conventional structure of a song they were transitioned into a different sounds with a beat switch or a key change creating a climax or a different direction but still keeping within the concept.

The features were pretty impressive with Kendrick at the helm showing more promise and elevating his career.

One of the negatives for me is Dre's flow and delivery which makes it hard for me personally to enjoy on certain songs as it seems unnatural, forced and his voice changed quite frequently but the lyrical content is a solid effort on Dre's part.

I would personally rate Compton 8/10 which I think is the fairest score I can give it with the production and features playing a major part in its success.

I agree about Dre. Just some times when he raps he sounds so uninspired but he kept it at a minimal on this album.

I found it hard to know when it was Dre rapping. At times I didn't even realize it was him. But it doesn't really bother me. It's not like it sounds bad, it just doesn't sound like Dre.

I don't know why he sounded so unnatural and some of his flow patterns and delivery really didn't suit him

I don't have a problem with Dre's flow, matter in fact I kinda love it how he flows with the beat

The production is so good, it's clear how much Dre's matured over the years
