Sep 11, 2017 Let's say Eminem made the song "Monster", "Phenomenal", and "Rhyme or Reason". Do you think he made several versions of those that count into his 1000 song catalog? What if some of his best lines that we like, for example, in recent releases are from his hiatus era? What if songs on the new upcoming album contain lyrics from never used 2000s songs from MMLP or TES? He might have thought he can't come up with anything new and just decided to make a single out of his old works that would sound much better comparing to if he wrote it now? Thoughts?
Sep 11, 2017 Yes I definitely think he recycles verses, hooks, content, etc until he creates a record that he is really happy with. I think all the iterations and revisions are counted toward the whole "we recorded over 100 songs for the album".
Sep 11, 2017 But if the quality of his songs on albums is bad, that means his unreleased songs are a complete trash?
Sep 11, 2017 I don't see why anyone would count let's say 6 different versions of a song as making 6 different songs. That is still the process of working on one song to perfect it. If he used his unreleased s--- from pre hiatus then he would still be dropping classics. But I guess artists always have to create new s--- and think it's their best work.
Sep 13, 2017 Some themes and concepts but rarely lyrics. Not only does he have a different style every album but the only artist I know of to actually change his style of writing as well. Not just his style of delivery; the way he writes on say Relapse compared to Recovery, for example, is completely different.
Sep 13, 2017 I think he uses a collection of concepts/lines in variety of songs until it fits. Lyrics from unreleased songs have ended up adjusted on songs released later on. In the song fly away he used the line about Brett favre but it was never officially released so he switched it up a bit and used it on I'm on everything. Fly Away The white trash star, I f--- an RV-up like Brett Favre Homie you got it backwards, your dipping your soup inside your crackers. Im on Everything Call me Brett Favre, spell it F-A-V-R-E, yup It’s wrong, in other words I just f----- my RV up!
Sep 14, 2017 Yeah this Another example is the "c--- block / square chicken" line from Despicable and Hello Good Morning And a few ideas from the GOAT song ended up in Relapse: -Paul Wall and Bubba Sparxxx disses: these were kind of retroactively apologized for in My Darling - though My Darling came out before GOAT was leaked, presumably GOAT was written first, then he decided to un-diss them by saying they're both dope -"Faggoty faggoty faggoty / raggedy andy and andy" lines in Underground -"Taking my ball and going home" line from the outro - likely the genesis of the song Taking My Ball
Sep 15, 2017 Didn't he have grab a h--- by his toe And grab a hobo by his toe One was my dads gone crazy the other was Untitled from recovery Certain lines I'm sure appeared on songs that are in the vault
