Nov 15, 2017 The Golden Globes has "Get Out" fans talking about what the movie really stands for. Jordan Peele's box office hit Get Out may have its funny moments, but labelling it as a comedy is a bit of a stretch. The internet went into a bit of a frenzy today after The Hollywood Foreign Press Association determined that the movie will compete as a comedy at the upcoming Golden Globes. If anything the movie is a satirical horror film, that has a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The premise of the movie surrounds Rose (played by Allison Williams) who brings her black boyfriend, Chris, (played by Daniel Kaluuya) home to meet her parents. During the course of Chris' visit, he takes the parents odd interactions as a sign of their reaction to the colour of his skin. As the weekend goes on a series of disturbing revelations prove that he was chosen to meet the family for a reason he could have never fathomed. One of the characters in the film, Rod, (played by LilRel Howery) who for sure plays a funny character, called out the Academy's actions on Twitter questioning if the motive behind the film was "that unrealistic." The movie will have a spot at the award show no matter what, but placing it in a category such as drama or horror may see it ruled out in comparison to its competitors. So basically, this whole fuss could be a smart move to prove that Jordan not only made one of the best movies of the year but will go home with an award for his ability to know how to work the system. Case in point: Get Out may have been submitted as a comedy but it doesn't mean it's classified as a comedy. What do you guys think?

Plenty of films get put in the comedy and musical category because they want to give different types of films exposure and a film that may not fit as a straight awards a--- drama, it’ll go to the comedy and musical section cause it has some of those qualities. Also it’s funny that people are throwing a fit when it’s actually the producers of the film who decide which category to submit it to.
