the thing that interested me a lot was when the black lady said she was "against capitalism". I feel like pure socialism does not work but neither does pure capitalism. With pure socialism it is impossible to provide everyone everything and with pure capitalism the top controls everything, so i think a combination of socialism and capitalism is the answer. Government helps people at a disadvantage be equal and certain things are provided by default but you can still choose your own path and work hard for something.

One thing is inarguable, if you understand both: Capitalism and democracy are utterly incompatible.

We need other parties in this country, but the two-party system has to be subverted before that can happen. In principle, the green party is right about most things. But we don't and probably won't have the political infrastructure in place to make it a viable option. At least, not until what we have now shows itself to be a complete and utter failure. We're very close to seeing that happen.

So, we'll keep voting for the "lesser of the two evils" and building the greater evil over time.

The cynics who position themselves as "realists" are the biggest enemies of progress, if we're being real.

Also: people who talk about how socialism doesn't work can't name two books by Karl Marx without googling. What we call 'socialism' isn't actually socialism, by any stretch.
