Apr 14, 2015 So as I was listening to Cherry Bomb today I was trying to find lyrics relating to Sam, Wolf, or the trilogy of his past three albums, and at the very end if "Okaga, CA" he tells the girl that the movie's about to start. I had the album on repeat, and "Deathcamp" started immediately after, and Tyler starts talking about not "liking all of these cameras, man, and this s--- just don't feel right." It made me start thinking that maybe the triple feature referenced in Cherry Bomb could be earlier parts if the album. Believe me, I want the triple feature to be about his past three albums as much as you guys, but this could be a legitimate theory. Any ideas?
Apr 14, 2015 View the video of f---ing YOUNG / PERFECT. It pretty much brings that message of theory you're thinking about.
Apr 14, 2015 @Meero posted this in the other thread as well... http://noisey.vice.com/en_uk/blog/h...tyler-the-creator-crafted-on-the-wolf-trilogy Excerpt from it "Roll around to 2015 and things are starting to click into place again. This week Tyler released Cherry Bomb, his fourth record, and people are already questioning how it fits into the narrative. Instead of following the previous trilogy's therapy-session setting, Cherry Bomb focuses on the release of a three-part film. “Blow my Load” closes with a radio presenter announcing “that was new music from the soundtrack of the upcoming film… Three back to back to back movies at the Moon Theatres tonight”. “2Seater” narrates Tyler and a girl arriving at a movie theatre to watch what Jasper calls “[Tyler’s] feature”. “Okaga, CA” has references to a “favourite director” and Tyler telling a girl to “watch this”. There’s even a visual too: the video for “f---ing Young” shows Tyler in a cinema, watching a film starring himself. From these references alone, it’s like Cherry Bomb’s narrative is loosely focused on Tyler going to watch a three-part film, in other words the WOLF trilogy, he wrote about his alter egos. But it’s also about Tyler’s current existence after he killed off all the other characters. If that seems contradictory, it's because it is. But when you're free from something sometimes it's good to reflect on where you've come from. So with that in mind, let’s get into this."
Apr 14, 2015 Yeah that makes sense, I remember reading that article about the trilogy a long time ago.. Good find man, lots of good insight
Apr 14, 2015 if not for Jasper being on the album for one interlude, it would go with the theme of everyone in Odd Future being dead, assuming the triple feature isn't the past albums.. Also if you notice when the radio announcer at the end of Blowmyload is talking about seeing the new movie *bleep*, before the censor, the first letter sounds like an F, I know it's just nitpicking but it could be something, potentially next album?
Apr 14, 2015 I'm REALLY enjoying the album. Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm satisfied as h--- with his project and Earl's. Solid album's galore, Earl's is a bit short...but solid throughout.
Apr 15, 2015 Hey all, I had another idea last night that I figured I would share. I read in another forum previously that someone had the idea that Camp Flog Gnaw is in Okaga, CA. We know for sure that Sam knew Salem before they went to Flog Gnaw, so maybe "Okaga, CA" is about Sam wanting Salem to go to Flog Gnaw with him. In the song before it, "Keep Da O's," Tyler raps once again being "Mr. Treat-Your-Nose," a name attributed to Sam in "48" off of Wolf. The only hole I see in this theory is that on "f---ing Young/Perfect," Tyler says "When I'm 27, you'll be 21," and on "Awkward," Sam says "I was 16 when we first laid eyes," implying he was also 16 when their relationship began, placing Salem at ten years of age.
