Dec 5, 2017 Swimming pools sounds more Soul and R&B than Trap. Even the person who created this beat said that he was doing it for a soul artist but Kendrick said that he wanted to rap on it.

Dec 5, 2017 Both. Obviously a lot of trap adheres to certain themes, but there's nothing inherent in trap that means the lyrics can't be "conscious" lyrics. Most subgenres come from the sonics rather than the lyrics.
