an iphone 5 with a cdma only antenna won't work with any real results on t-mobile/gsm

you should be able to trade the phone for one that can connect to at&t/t-mobile and other gsm carriers

Usually the company has some sort of means to unlock the phone...
.. but i found this on the site:

"Specifically, devices manufactured with a SIM slot within the past three years (including, but not limited to, all Apple iPhone devices), cannot be unlocked to accept a different domestic carrier's SIM for use on another domestic carrier's network. Sprint has no technological process available to do this."

    tmobile says it's possible ( http://www.t-mobile.com/bring-your-own-phone.html )

this website also exists, although i've never used it. ( http://www.releasemycode.com/ )

In the UK our carriers legally have to unlock our phones once we are half way through out contracts. It might be the same in America?

really? why is tmobile putting this on their website for then

Can my Sprint iPhone 5 work on T-Mobile’s network?
Yes, the Sprint iPhone 5 is compatible with T-Mobile’s nationwide 4G LTE network once you have unlocked your phone.

I think sprint has to provide/sell you an unlock code for the phone as far as I know... I'm not 100% sure as I have never unlocked a phone.
