    Bad for Em in a way as some people hate anything that's universally popular. Good for rap because he's elevated the genre.

    This is a good question actually. People just dismissing it because of OP.
    For example, when Lil Wayne was the number one rapper everybody that hated rap would reference him.
    side not a lot of people claim to like rap but only know Eminem

    It's great for hip hop. So many people were introduced to hip hop through Em. Any massive artist is great for any genre because they will bring more fans to listen to that type of music no matter who it is.
