Good for him. I'll be supporting the Raiders now tbh.

10 mil a year which is about 200k a week.
Is that high for NFL coaches?

Jose Mourinho makes triple that. Big money in these global sports brands you know. NFL arguably underpaying if 10mil is the record.

Still a Steelers fan always. That'll be my team regardless. I'll just watch the raiders more and hope they do good. Just not ever better than the Steelers.

hopefully it works out for them. this kind of deal obviously shows that they have A LOT of confidence in him.

I’m glad Gruden is back tho...I think it’s good for the league

Heard it's backloaded so they'll be able to cut him after a few years

But if he does a good job that's a massive amount of money

feel like this is going to end terrible for the Raiders. While I believe that it's possible for a former HC to come back and be successful after being out for years; d-ck Vermeil. It's not exactly like Gruden left leaving the NFL on fire

2006 TB was 4-12, 31st ranked team in PPG with 13.2 pts a game. 270 offensive yards a game
2007 TB 9-7, 18th ranked offense at 20.9 pts per game and 326 yards a game. Definitely an improvement to an average level but lost 4 out of their last 5 games including a wild card loss. The NFC South was pretty week that year as evidence by winning the division at 9-7
2008 again 9-7 but this time 3rd in the division and no playoffs. Offensive stats are almost identical. 19th ranked offense and 20.2 pts a game but slightly improved to 341 yards a game.

Could it work for the Raiders, maybe. I'm doubtful though and after the disappointing season the Raiders and Carr had. If I was a Raiders fan, I would have preferred they brought in an offensive minded OC that hasn't been out of the game for a decade. Someone to right the ship and get my franchise QB back on a MVP level. My top choices instead of chasing the the past for the raiders would've been

Josh McDaniels- Brady is on the back end of a HOF career and Carr is young. If if Belichick leaves anytime soon, there's no replacement for Brady anymore once he hangs them up. Chance to move out West and stay in the AFC with a fresh start. And a chance to stick it the Broncos 2x a year.
Matt Nagy- Obviously not an option now in Chicago but Oakland didn't even look in at this or seriously consider any other candidate. He is exactly what Trubisky needs in Chicago. Expecting a big leap from him in season 2 as an NFL QB
Frank Reich/John Defilippo- The job they did in Philadelphia with Wentz was something special. The type of coaching Carr needs at this point.

I like Gruden, but felt this was more of a PR move to gain and keep fans in Oakland while they transition to LV. I hope he is successful because I really like Gruden and the Raiders are one of those franchises that I believe when they are good, the NFL overall is a better product.

I can't wait until f---ing Josh McDaniels is gone. Most overrated coordinator in the NFL. Pats have had MUCH better coordinators than Josh/Patricia, although Patricia has been better in recent years. Josh still is overrated af though.

By the way, this deal is f---ing stupid. Gruden was an above average NFL head coach. Raiders doing Raiders things though.
