Dec 27, 2017 Hey , I thought I would do a review off the spot and here goes 1. Good Morning - 9/10 Personally, I love this intro because it is one of the most heartwarming songs on the album(lyrics , beat and delivery combined).. It sets the optimistic theme throughout this whole album perfectly. This is one of the most admirable traits I like about Kanye is his optimism that he shows throughout his music. I like the Jay sample that he used. The one issue that I have is while his verses were witty, they can be improved by a lot. It does flow well with the beat but personally I think there is better lyrics Kanye can rap to this song. This is why I didn't rate it a 10. This could be the album direction though and I think I am being harsh myself with this. 2. Champion - 9/10 An optimistic anthem which details personal lyrics about his father and very optimistic lyrics about his visit to a school. Again I have the same issue that keeps this from being a 10 and thats the lyrics.I could be contradicting myself with some of the later songs in the review with this issue but aside from that I give this a straight 9. I think this is the album direction though. 3. Stronger - 10/10 This song is the best produced Kanye song of all time(arguable). It is also arguably one of his biggest songs of all time. It's magnificent from top to bottom and these strengths outweigh any con that arises (differing from the first 2 songs) 4. I Wonder - 10/10 It gets better. I love the hook , I absolutely love the hook. Its the most heartwarming hook I have ever heard. 5. Good Life - 7/10 Its a straight b-----r.Here is the problem with this song. The problem is because the past 2 songs are perfect 10's you are expecting 10 after 10 after 10 and the difference in quality is obvious when listening in album form. This is an example of the song being much better in single form but in an album listen it isn't as pleasing. If anything its underwhelming compared to the past 2 songs. Does that mean its a terrible listen? Absolutely not. It doesn't take away the fact that Good Life is a great song with a well delivered feature from T-Pain. Some of the lines here can also be perceived as lazy lyricism (Verse 2) 6. Can't Tell Me Nothing - 8/10 This song is much better when you listen to it as a single song. When listening on the album you can tell the quality difference from some of the other songs. This song represents nice flashes of self awareness and is amazingly produced. 7. Barry Bonds - 4/10 The lyrics were terrible. One of the most disappointing collaborations of all time simply because of the presence of the two artists at this time in rap. 8. Drunk and Hot Girls - 6/10 The hook was great but the song seems like a disjointed mess. Maybe that was intentional from Ye and that I should be rating this song higher but still. The description of the drunk girl where he does the voiceover was very random and kinda took me off guard. 9. Flashing Lights - 10/10 Another one of Kanye's best produced songs and his lyricism is really good here. The way he just goes into his verse makes this a standout track on the album straight up. 10. Everything I Am - 4/10 Its not that the lyrics were terrible. Its just the beat didn't go well with Kanye at all and you can see this clearly on the beat. The hook was probably the only memorable thing on this song. Kanye underperformed imho. 11. The Glory - 10/10 Another one of the memorable Kanye songs on this album. The imagery on this song is fantastic. 12. Homecoming - 10/10 I disagree with the criticism of the hook because I thought the hook was really good. 13. Big Brother - 6/10 Enjoyable listen but underwhelming in comparison to the previous 2 songs . One of the worst replay values of the whole album. 14. Good Night - 10/10 This was the last song on the Tidal listen so I thought i'd add it in. This song is very heartwarming and mellow and the features were excellent. This is a perfect way to cap off an album experience Album Score: 81/100 If your thinking the album score is scandalous and barbaric. Trust me i'm a really meticulous/strict reviewer and meticulous with my listening process. This review is 100% honest based off my previous listen. Does this change from time to time? Absolutely.
