"Brett Morgen's Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck documentary will enjoy a Stateside theatrical release, Billboard reports. Before its May 4 HBO roll-out, the film will hit big screens in L.A., Seattle, and New York beginning April 24. Heck will also reportedly be shown in 72 countries, beginning April 10 — all of which means the movie can qualify for a potential Oscar bid. "Within 90 days, the whole world will have access to the film," Morgen said at SXSW, adding that Nirvana fans can then expect a November DVD release. For the U.S. theatrical run, exact showtimes and locations are still being figured out (stay tuned) — but get ready, this is the authorized Cobain doc we're talking about here, a.k.a. not a drill."

Just judging from the trailer, they put a lot of time and effort into this. Really glad we're finally getting something based on his life and not his death.
