I'm looking to learn a new language, preferably Spanish but I'm still undecided, I was just wondering if any of you on here have ever took the time to learn a new language.

If so, how did you do it and what would you recommend? I will be learning online more than likely so any websites that anyone has ever used would be appreciated as the only one I'm familiar with is Rosetta Stone.

Watch as many movies in the language you're about to learn as possible. I furthermore recommend you watching movies you already know, but this time in the new language with subtitles.
If you notice a "cool" sentence, just write it down on a piece of paper or on your smartphone in order to remember it.

This is by far the easiest and most entertaining way to learn a new language. Good luck m8 :khaled2:

I speak French (native language is English though) due to participating in 6 year French program while in jr high and high school. I'd focus on a certain dialect, if that's a possibility. French is a strange language because it's vastly different depending on where you are in the world. I have no problem conversing with Acadiens and Quebecois' (both Canadian), but when I was in Paris I had to really listen to whoever was speaking to get a grasp on the words.

It wouldn't hurt starting with the basics. I'm sure you can find beginner s--- online. Even some elementary-level type s--- will help you. Get familiar with basic words, colours, verbs, etc. before you try and get into the actual linguistics. Grammar can be an absolute b----. Speaking a language is hella easy compared to writing it.

This is how Dimitar Berbatov (Bulgarian footballer who played for Manchester United) learnt English. I read somewhere once that he would spend a day just watching the Godfather films in English to help him.

It must be helpful, I'll give it a shot.

    f--- your aunt too.

Why do you think its dumb? Sure Chinese would be super helpful but I can't see myself going to Asia anytime soon whereas Spanish is the first spoken language in many countries I would choose to visit on holiday.

I am a South American kid and i learn English thanks to Hip Hop and the Internet in general. I can speak now properly English, of course i am not perfect but i can have conversations without problems. In my school i was in the "Amateur English" class, but this year they are going to move me to a superior one.

I am now going to learn Portuguese with Duolingo. I think is a great tool to learn languages, so you can use it. Also, if you want to learn Spanish, you can also do things like hear some Hispanic music, see Spanish movies with English captions, explore forums, etc.

Spanish is not a easy language, i can tell. But is definitely a really rich and even useful idiom.

I'm just starting to learn Spanish now. I've downloaded the 50languages app, but it kinda sucks tbh.. Wouldn't reccommend it.

The best way to improve for me is to learn a shitload of words every week (250) and then try to read newspapers and articles along with watching series or movies in the language you're trying to learn.
