Mar 14, 2019 A man literally named Sober, as in "you're definitely not sober enough to drive," was arrested in Butler County, Pennsylvania recently for allegedly being exactly that. An unrelated call Saturday evening resulted in local police in Middlesex Township spotting a "suspicious vehicle" along the Old Route 8 road, according to regional outlet WTAE. Officers then followed the vehicle, operated by 44-year-old Lower Burrell resident Daniel Sober, before initiating a traffic stop in the parking lot of a nearby Catholic school. Once pulled over, Sober told officers he had just dropped off his girlfriend “so she could check on her son.” During the discussion, officers caught a whiff of alcohol on his breath before deciding to have him undergo a sobriety exam by way of a breathalyzer. Once he was relocated to the police station, Sober was found to be, well, not sober. In fact, WTAE notes that court documents show his blood alcohol content (.194 percent) was more than twice the state's legal limit of .08 percent. Sober has now been hit with charges including driving under the influence and careless driving. He's since been released but is due back in court March 20, perWQAD. All jokes aside, driving drunk isn't something anyone should be doing, regardless of their last name. In 2017, the most recent year's stats cited by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were nearly 11,000 deaths related to drunk driving accidents. - Complex
Mar 15, 2019 Lol. This is actually only about 3 hours from where I live. This guys alcohol level really wasn’t that high. I mean yeah above the legal law which is like 2 beers and you’re f-----. Dude had like a 6 pack and they blasted him all over media outlets, over his name. I hope this guy sues for defamation of character.
Mar 15, 2019 If it's more than his first one then yea but otherwise let's hope he learns rather than f--- him
Mar 15, 2019 for real, you hit .08 after literally ~3.2 drinks like as long as his BAC wasn't like .2 or something it's easier to get than a lot of people think
Mar 15, 2019 Yeah he should learn, agree, but still think he should loose his license for at least a while. Drunk driving is the worst (actual drunk driving... 2 beers is also not legal ofc but different from being loaded)
Mar 15, 2019 lol I'm only slightly triggered because I got one and literally just finished my consequences (got the breathalyzer out of my car after a year). Most of the punishment/hard s--- comes in when you try to get your license back so a lot of people just say f--- it and drive without one. But yea, I def learned after my first so I empathize with people on their first because they get crucified the same as somebody that gets 10 lol
Mar 15, 2019 idk about Pittsburgh but in WI you lose your license for at least 6 months on your first (varies depending on BAC), but you can cop an occupational and be back on the road the same day you lose your regular one
Mar 15, 2019 Someone shouldn’t lose their license if it was their very first dui if it wasn’t a crazy amount of alcohol consumed. Different if you caused a wreck or you’re swerving all over the road. This older guy that works for our business, he only had 3 beers and got a dui. He was .01 over the legal limit. Total a------ move by the cop to actually give him one when he was completely fine. The cops reason pulling him over was he didn’t turn his lights on as soon as he backed out of the parking lot. He only got 6 months probation and didn’t lose his license. The sad thing with him is he maybe drinks once a month. He’s just a weed smoker, not a drinker. The cops are so corrupt here they wait across a bar and follow you when leaving automatically giving you a sobriety test. Some bars went out and others are going out of business because of this. The one cop who got me but I beat the case because he never had a search warrant won the award last year for the most dui arrest. He literally sits across popular bars and pulls over everyone he can. Dui’s are the police’s most money maker in this area so they go hard on it. People are dying from fentanyl everyday, but they’d still rather get pot smokers and people who have a couple drinks at a bar or vfw. And like I said, if you’re drunk to the point you’re risking lives but driving then yeah that’s different. My friend got put on ARD just because he had a weed bowl in his car when pulled over and smoked earlier so they considered it a dui. He served four years in the military hoping that’d help him out, but I didn’t. And a girl got a paraphernalia charge just from having a weed grinder in her car with no weed in it. Just the residue from it she’s being charged with.
Mar 15, 2019 Oh yeah thats weird lol..Here in NL someone that does it again gets more punishment than someone that does it 1st time (which is fair). And can eventually lose their license for years. Imo good. But also agree w @dna hits that there's a difference between having 2/3 beers or 10 beers ... both wrong ofc but the latter has a bigger chance at causing an accident/is more dangerous.
Mar 15, 2019 But tbh not being a d-ck you know ur my dude but I don't get whats so hard about not drinking when you have to drive.. @YNW Squiddy . Not judging you , just curious.
Mar 15, 2019 man I'm just trying to get home and sleep in my own bed and I'm not trying to drop $20 on an Uber even though I thoughtlessly spent $80 at the bar lol But nah in hindsight yea it's dumb and an easy call but it's more of a cultural thing around here.
Mar 15, 2019 Yeah I can understand that. Also about the cultural thing. One guy from my group of friends got caught w dui, most people from our group broke contact with him lmao. It really is a no go around here... (not sure if its in the whole country tho) .
Mar 15, 2019 totally get that, from what I'm told WI is one of the most lenient states in the US but other states like California DUIs are a HARD no (Like they make you attend AA classes and a whole bunch of extra s--- when you get your first one).
