Dec 4, 2017 Throwing in some skits and references doesn't make the album a sequel, nor does it add to the story and bring closure. It was a gimmick with cheap lazy excuses fool fans into overthinking the name and add depth to a project lacking any. Discuss.
Dec 5, 2017 MMLP2 would have been fine if it had a different title. Having the mmlp2 title made people think it was going to sound like mmlp. And it didn’t. Like at all. And then he bleached his hair back and all sorts of s---. If mmlp2 has a different title the album would of been approached by fans and looked at different
Dec 5, 2017 MMLP is em's creation he has every right to make a sequel even if it was complete opposite of the first one. Like I said before Jay did it with blueprint I'm sure there are more examplaes in rap music. Some TV shows like true detective has completed different characters and stories every season... Get over it. MMLP is just an album so was MMLP 2. 1st one was classic 2nd one was good
Dec 5, 2017 MMlp was a fine album. It just needed a different title. Calling it mmlp was just to sell records. And that’s a bs thing to do.
Dec 5, 2017 U mean MMLP 2. I don't think he called it that because he wanted sell records. He just felt like it was proper, maybe he was wrong but He would have sold millions easily regardless of the name. Recovery probably had better sales in the long run even tho the first week sales of MMLP 2 was more...
Dec 5, 2017 True. One of his worst moves ever. Even if he called it something else... it would still be an a--- album, how it was put together... but it wouldn't be such a blemish. Because it'd just be like 'remember that weird album?', why did he have to f--- with the MMLP brand. I don't think he purposely tried to eat off the name though or deceive people fam. He apparently made like 300 songs and MMLP2 interviews... he seemed exhausted, saying s--- like "I'm just glad it's done" and "this is the best I can do". Seems like he drove himself crazy - probably recorded every style under the sun. The most frustrating thing is... I bet the material was there, to make a sequel and a classic. A lot of the content was there and the material quality of that era was high caliber s---. The issue was the sounds and styles they chose. s--- like "So Much Better" is just like... NOT MMLP Eminem, in terms of character, content, it's just a random 'b---- track' and sonically it sounds somewhere between TES and Encore. Just, terrible. There's nothing on MMLP 1 which is just like... 'HEY HERE'S MY WOMAN SONG!", like yeah he has "Kim" but that was personal, and in character. Every single song he is in character, that's part of why it feels so consistent. On MMLP2... One minute he's smooth and funky and sarcastic, quipping off lines on Rhyme or Reason or a------... the next he's clunky and obvious and yelling about smurfs and singing. He just put a bunch of songs together. Such little thought. I'm honestly bemused at how Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin could pick those tracks and then not hear what we hear once they're finished. It makes no sense and is a fkn mess. How does everybody else hear it though, but they don't? That's what I really don't get.
Dec 5, 2017 I don't see many references to bp 1 or 2 in jays sequels either. Mmlp2 just doesn't match the quality
