Dec 6, 2023 In 2001, HoopsTV released a streetball video set to rap music called “Ball Above All”. The song in question appears last on the DVD before the credits roll. I am looking for the artist and song title for the song that appears at the 7:47 minute mark and stops at the 10:47 minute mark in the YouTube video. The song features 3 different rappers and there is no hook. They sound like East Coast rappers but I could be wrong. The flow is raw at times but legit. The credits were no help. During the credits roll there is a list of songs with thanks to rapstation.com, All songs appear in the video except these: Royal Family “Bounce” Hyennas in the desert “Can you feel it”? The Hyennas song is definitely a song, but it does not appear in the DVD, and it’s definitely not the song in question. The Royal Family song I couldn’t identify in the DVD. Not sure if that is it, but I can’t find anything online about that song Bounce or a rap group called Royal Family. Any help would be great. I’ve been trying to find this song for years!
Dec 6, 2023 I could be 100% wrong but it sounds like Tomorrowz Weaponz/T-Weaponz Here's a track that has a similar vibe:
Dec 14, 2023 Thanks for the response Pandemic, you are a straight G. I know finding the song in question would be a tall task 20 years later. But I still think this can be solved. I had never heard of Tomorrowz Weaponz. This is a very good guess and it could be them. However I’ve been listening to as many songs as I can on YouTube from Tomorrowz Weaponz (also known as TWeaponz) and I can’t say it’s them 100%. The vibe is similar like you say, but when I compare vocals, the song in question has faster paced rap vocals, and more raw. For example, the 2nd verse from the song in question is very unique from a vocals standpoint and I haven’t heard those vocals in any of Tomorrowz Weaponz songs. While looking for Tomorrowz Weaponz songs, I stumbled upon a rap group from the 90s called Sounds of Rage. From Discogs: “Sounds Of Rage was a Philadelphia-based group, consisted of G-Masica, Pitch Black and Gobe Raw.” Sounds of Rage could be another good guess, but again not 100%. However, just looking at their discography, it looks like the rap group dissolved way before 2000. The song in question on the 3rd verse the lyrics say “take flight from this Y through K hype” (Y2K). My guess here with this line is that the rap song in question is from 1999 or 2000. The DVD went on sale to the public in 2001 so this timeline would make sense. If anything comes from trying to find the song in question, is finding the song below. This is a rap gem from Sounds of Rage in 1996.
