a little over 15 years ago Obie Trice relaased his debut album “cheers”. Always thought this album was comparable to GRODT. It just didn’t get promoted as heavy and sold as much.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this album today?

This album was and is highly underrated.

Em features are peak Eminem, production is on point ... He kinda just fell into the d12 bucket, as some dude from Detroit that em wants to put on which was also overshadowed by the stardom of 50 at the time (GRODT came out 6 months prior).

This is one solid album man, the setup , don't come down, follow my life ... The em features are nice, but Obie carries this one on his own.

Never understood why eminem didn’t put love me on grodt as a bonus like wanksta and s---t a video for it. Had one of Eminem’s best verses and would of helped promote Obie a lot

Awesome album. Recently listened to it. GRODT was kinda on another level tho. I'm not sure if it was promoted as much as GRODT but I'm sure the sales have nothing to do with it. P.I.M.P. and In Da Club were so huge and there wasn't even a single close to those on Cheers was the real reason of the sales numbers I guess.

50 cent had the biggest buzz any rapper has ever or will ever have. His singles definitely helped. But if you look at his videos they also looked like they were higher budget.

So what ? Those videos barely had anything to do with his sales dude come on. Obie would never be as big as him anyway.. 50 also kept releasing those hot singles after GRODT too. Obie wouldn't even do as half good as he did under Shady if he was signed to another label at the time.
