Nov 24, 2015 Hasn't affected Kanye to this point, so no, I think Drake will be fine. It's only an issue if you don't like him in the 1st place.
Nov 24, 2015 @Jet Drake definitely got knocked from his pedestal for me...you cant claim to be "The Leader of the New School", buying raps from artists who are part of that 'New school'... But from what I see "Drake" is a brand...so regardless of who he gets his lyrics from, people will support, off the idea that it's a Drake record (ignoring the quality or the process of creating the song). So I think he still has room for success in the future... and I mean Drake has balls, so if his career is on the decline, he gunna go out with a b--- for sure.
Nov 24, 2015 Kind of a cop out to Joel's question. With that way of thinking Drake should get a pass because he can sing right? There's no difference in what Kanye does and what Drake did.
Nov 24, 2015 i think im just over this question tbh too many half assed responses from people trying to cover his a--- if he was found out for not writing 100% of his s--- you nikkas would find some way to defend him smh..
Nov 24, 2015 Well we know that's not the case. My point is if Kanye gets a pass, so does Drake. That's all.
Nov 24, 2015 Don't care at all. Never have. He has already proven himself as a very capable songwriter.
Nov 24, 2015 To be quite honest, I think the only reason Drake gets so much s--- for this is because reference tracks leaked. Had Meek just put it out there and Q. Miller was like "yeah, I helped Drake write some songs but I don't ghost write for him," I don't think it would have been as big of a deal. Because if you just read through this thread you can tell people really don't care when it comes to Kanye doing it or any other artist but feel some type of way with Drake. The reference tracks definitely have something to do with that.
Nov 24, 2015 In that grand scheme of things no. It won't matter much. It doesn't really change my opinion of him as an artist much. But personally I was hurt that most of 10 bands first verse and rico first verse probably wasn't him.
Nov 24, 2015 i havent though, i get what youve been saying its just if you cant admit the whole meek incident dented his career somewhat then youve failed to refute what ive been saying
Nov 24, 2015 It may have made a dent because meek made it a bigger problem than it really was (no one cared who Q. Miller was back in January when IYRTITL actually came out). Now you'll see people throughout the Internet (mainly YouTube tbh) claiming Drake has ghost writers. What most of us in here are saying though is that other mainstream artists (Kanye) do the exact same thing. And your excuse that "oh, well Kanye is a producer" really holds no weight lol.
Nov 25, 2015 but you cant deny that he actually was a producer before, so he isnt held in the same light as an artist with one talent eg rapping
Nov 25, 2015 Drake has two talents in singing/rapping if you wanna use Kanye's multi-facet artistry as an excuse for him to get a pass from 'ghostwriting'.
Nov 25, 2015 oh come on, the line between singing and rapping is so blurred most artists that rap can sing to some extent
Nov 25, 2015 Singers usually have someone write their songs for them. And then credit them. How is that different to what Drake does?
