Jan 11, 2016 Snoop (Doggy) Dogg's sophomore album released by Death Row Records on November 12th, 1996. I was curious to know what Section 80's general thoughts on the album are. Personally this is my third favorite album behind (obviously) his debut, Doggystyle and his 2006 album Tha Blue Carpet Treatment. Imo, it starts off strong, but falls off slightly in the middle. So how do you feel about it? Do you love it or hate it, and why?
Jan 11, 2016 It had some good bits but Snoop's heart wasn't in it at the time. His next 3 albums after he went to No Limit are really underrated though.
Jan 11, 2016 never gave it a full listen tbh Snoop makes great songs and mediocre albums. besides Doggystyle his albums are always half filler
Jan 11, 2016 @Boyz N The Suburbs do you agree? for instance one example that really sticks out to me is Rhythm & Gangsta......if that album had been trimmed to like 11-12 tracks it might be his best album...but it's got some really s--- songs like Fresh Pair of Panties, Get Ur Freak On, Can U Control Ur Hoe, etc that manage to make it drag on. Blue Carpet Treatment suffers from this as well, there's songs that just shouldnt have made the cut. But rappers in general seem to feel they need to make 19 track albums for quantity over quality
Jan 11, 2016 I do agree that every Snoop album does have filler of some sort. Doggystyle had several unnecessary skits. The only songs on TBCT that I would say is filler are Intrology, Think About It and Conversations. The rest of the tracks were great.
Jan 11, 2016 Honestly never listened to it properly. The Last Meal is my second favorite Snoop album.
Jan 12, 2016 Very VERY disappointing album when you consider this was the follow-up to Doggystyle, one of the Top 5 rap albums of all-time. He later admitted that his heart wasn't in it on this one because of his murder trial, the dysfunction at Death Row, and Tupac's death. It was kinda to be expected when you consider he went from Dre as his executive producer to... Suge Knight? Despite the disappointment this is still easily a Top 5 album from Snoop because the rest of his discography is so weak. We all know Doggystyle is his best album and his only classic. But Tha Last Meal is a great GREAT album. Easily in the #2 spot for me. If you haven't heard that album yet check it out.
Jan 12, 2016 Tbh, I don't understand the appeal of Tha Last Meal. I liked a couple tracks but as a whole, it wasn't too enjoyable.
Jan 12, 2016 Also fun fact: the reason it was called Tha Last Meal is it was the last Snoop album that Suge Knight made any money off of. It was also his last album on No Limit.
Jan 12, 2016 My one complaint about the album was the excessive amount of hooks sung by Kokane. Always hated that guy's voice. And Snoop worked with him ALOT back in the early 2000s.
Jan 12, 2016 Beat is simple, but it's good enough. Love his delivery, and even laughed at a few lines. That part about the police dog especially.
