Just look at castle and arose. He rewinds it to go from a letter to halie before she was born to 2007. In 2008 he overdosed and had the story of what he wanted to say. Until he recovered. Did that go over your head? Also he had a song about Kim on there. He has his political views. Listen closely for content rather than a beat lol

I mean who was his target audience anyways - the about to slit my wrists crowd? All i can think is its him proving to his family he dont care about this s--- anymore.

Chloroseptic and framed were descent. Theres some other s--- with some good beats that he ruined. Offended woulda been good without that ridiculous hook but his lyrics most of the time were pathetic as f---. He totally ruined in your head, that could of been bangin. Biggest meltdown in history man.

I've finished my first couple of listens... as expected, some of the pop feature tracks are not very good. Disappointing that the Alicia Keys song was just garbage to me, content aside, the song was just trash overall. "Tragic Endings" sounds like it was actually recorded during the "Recovery" era. The Ed Sheeran song was good for what it was and wasn't what I was expecting from that collab.

"Framed" and "Offended" had dope verses, but I didn't care much for the hook on "Framed" - but it feels like it coulda fit right in on "Relapse". And the hook on "Offended" completely ruined the d--- song.

Highlight of the album was definitely "Castle" and "Arose" - the concept was cool, considering it's right at the 10 year anniversary of all the s--- with him almost dying. As someone who thinks "Deja Vu" is maybe his best song post-hiatus, the content and continuation of that story was dope to me. How he went back to "Castle" and basically changed up the ending verse was great. Another highlight: when I heard "Believe" I really thought the album was about to be insane, because it was setting the stone and showing he is still confident after the self doubt of the intro with "Walk On Water".

Overall, it was kinda what I expected - the variety and trying to please everyone made it feel all over the place at times. But the album has some great songs, some okay songs, and some bad songs. Have to relisten and let it sit with me for a while before I'd say where I'd rank it in terms of discography. But I'm not one who thinks he's gonna put out another "MMLP" or another "Eminem Show" (even though we all hope). Just was glad to get to enjoy new music from Eminem, as we don't know how much longer he'll be releasing albums. Definitely don't feel like it's his last (especially when there's no Dre production). I just think some people go a little too hard on him expecting nothing but classics for the entire duration, when that's just not plausible.

Hope everyone finds something to enjoy on the record because we all know there will be plenty for people to hate on.

Arose and castle are two songs that go together. They don't fit on this album at all. What story do the other songs tell? Nothing. It's in no way cohesive. What's the theme of this album? Oh yeah there isn't one.
