May 13, 2018 Out of the rappers out right now I think XXXTENTACION, like Uzi had the emo style but when X blew up everybody hopped on that wave imo He's shown he can rap and be experimental and he has a large dedicated fan base that is full of weird but sort of beyhive-ish stans
May 13, 2018 Rap might just turn into movie soundtracks, seeing how profitable they are it makes sense
May 13, 2018 I could also see Eminem and Royce leading the charge into a new era of rap. I think people are pretty much fed up with the mumble rap so I can see the likes of Logic and Tech N9ne taking the reigns as well
May 14, 2018 Unfortunately... some really s-----y artists by the looks of it. If we're not counting greats like Kendrick of course, not saying his time is anywhere near done but he's a little deep into his career now? I'm presuming you mean very new guys.
May 14, 2018 Pretty much the same I think. New trends/types of rap or other subgenres, with older rappers both adapting to it and making their 'own' music.
May 15, 2018 If I had to assign a name to it, Yachty/DRAM, like not specifically them, but that style of anti-trap.
May 15, 2018 In a personally utopian alternative universe, it'd be Uno, Fauni, Uzi, Carti, and maybe YBN Cordae. If Raury makes a comeback, he might stand a chance. Even though he looks like the second coming of "Charles Hamilton" (Seriously, are they identical twins? They have to at least be closely-related, somehow.
May 15, 2018 Ive seen a lot of generations come and go that people at the time thought were trash (ringtone era, blind era), but this is the first where I genuinely think mainstream Hip Hop is kinda done for. The instrumentals have become unoriginal and generally uninspired. The lyrics are not there and even in the artists that are supposedly deep, the content is usually on the nose and people act like its the best thing since chikfila. The flows are the only thing that is in general, decent. Society as a whole has dumbed down like crazy in the past 5-7 years from my perspective (ironically this coincided with the rise of social media, go figure). Mainstream Movies have all become superhero/franchise films, thats legitimately the only thing grossing highly in theatres now and theyre all kinda the same and play very safely. News media has been on a decline for a long time now but its full r----- now. Big budget commercial games have become essentially wannabe movies with less and less focus on challenge or gameplay, no innovation in a long time (multiplayer games are doing fine though). Sorry for the rant but it felt gud
