Aug 9, 2019 Yeah, I'm pretty sure he is a perfectionist to an extreme degree. It happens in all art forms though. Some authors are crippled by the fear of failing, to the point it takes them 10 years + to release a new book. Maybe he is worried about going the way of other artists that he came up with that are marginalized. Can you imagine if Cube had stopped making music after Lethal Injection? We would grouping him in with the greatest lyricists of all time. Now he is rarely ever mentioned in anybodies top lyricists lists, which is a shame. In Dre's case he has so much money now, there is no need to put out music.
Aug 9, 2019 Glad you mentioned that about cube. He was the first rapper I herd. He holds a special place in my heart lol
Aug 10, 2019 Once again I point to Bishop Lamont, who worked tirelessly to build his career, pretty much doing the only Aftermath PR for several years, who was in turn actively sabotaged by his own label. Dre has every right to run the label his own way, but he is open to very valid criticisms about it. The only artist served well by Aftermath was Eminem.
Aug 10, 2019 Didn't Bishop leak a single without the label's blessing? Seems like an easy way to burn a bridge.
Aug 11, 2019 I remember seeing some words from a "rep" but I read it on thisis50 so never took too much stock in it. Bishop did slate 'Crack a Bottle' on radio once which probably hurt some feelings. He was right of course.
