Jan 25, 2020 I agree the speed verse is uncalled for, but the general audiance eats that s--- up. The last time they heard that speed verse was on rap god, 2013, most people did not get a chance to be fed up with it and probably will be most juice wrlds fans first exposure to it.
Jan 25, 2020 Far and away the most accurate and thoughtful review I’ve read of this album. Everyone commenting on the presence of Eminem’s personality and idiosyncrasies shining through on certain records is absolutely on point.
Jan 25, 2020 I mean it's definitely an impressive skill and I'm not faulting him for doing it on the album cuz his fans eat that up, I just think he could have done it on a different song lol
Jan 25, 2020 Yeah still waiting on @Xmipod for the cut version. Cut the 3rd vers halfway and its an overall great song. Still solid the way it is tho apart from the fast s---
Jan 25, 2020 Also I understand it's easy to get riled up over a score (which is part of the reason why sites have numerical ratings, because it gets people talking) but I think yall are fixating on it too much. Like this 5.5 review reads much more positively than pitchfork's 7.1 of ye. The moral of the story is follow writers not publications
Jan 25, 2020 Godzilla is a weak song actually, if not for juice wrld it wouldnt have been noticed The review starts with "this is not a good album, eminem hasnt released one in a decade". Not really positive except it accidentally approves of Relapse since relapse is more than a decade ago.
Jan 25, 2020 this review is, in effect, a defense of eminem’s entire creative enterprise since 2010 — despite its numerous, baffling failures, his work this past decade has at least been technically coherent, and what i did in this review was isolate that quality and place him back in the creative lineage that most criticism has stripped him from due to his celebrity. the fact that you could listen to that album, read this review, then spend time whining about it being “too negative” is... strange to me. this is a middling record with interesting moments. it also does not “accidentally approve of relapse.”
Jan 25, 2020 charisma is, like, half of rap. dunno who you’re thinking of but i was never a big fan — i probably like eminem as much now as i ever have
Jan 25, 2020 Yes. Why does he even bother is the bigger question? They all backfire and end up being some of the worst songs on the album. He just needs to be himself and realize without Rihanna, he’s never going to have some successful terrible relationship song. He’s basically 50 for f--- sucks. No one wants to hear about an old man talking about his failed Kim relationships for 10 consecutive albums. No one. And the numbers prove it.
Jan 25, 2020 Eminem's addictive personality really can be his downfall in his music. He was doing the "funny" 1st single for years & now he has replaced Rihanna with Ed Sheeran for his Pop Rap anthems. Maybe Pop music is his guilty pleasure because doing collabs with Ed Sheeran is not needed at all. All there songs are horrible.
Jan 25, 2020 The album deserves more than "middling record with interesting moments" and I dont see you bringing his technicality into that much of a focus that anyone would finish the review thinking about how technically good eminem is. But its ok, I gave the album 3/10 after few listens until it clicked into place. But I'm a fan whos willing to give multiple chances while theres nothing in it for you to let the album settle more. And my whining is not about the review being negative, its just that I always percieve you as being too smug about your opinions. But I may be wrong because recently @Big Cuntry made me reevaluate my opinions with just a few reasonable replies to me. Anyways, I am impressed with the wordplay eminem does these days and I feel he's cheated out of that recognition.
