    Interesting to hear your thoughts @Big Cuntry — the album is definitely a grower. Most people rate it more highly now than on first listen.

    I do think you’re being extremely harsh on Never Love Again though, especially classing it as ‘horrible’. I kind of get what you mean about hearing the song before on Recovery etc. but they weren’t executed anywhere near as well as this. On Recovery it was more vague (like 25 For Life), and nowhere near as well-written.

    This is on another level in terms of writing. Basically every bar is a double entendre. The way he puts together the words is perfect and this is partly what separates Em from other rappers imo: being able to write songs like this & Darkness.

    He flows smoothly and it’s a great hook so overall I think Em absolutely nailed the addiction/relationship song here. I think it’s one of the best on the album. My only gripe would be when I first heard it I was like not ANOTHER relationship song...but I certainly let him off this one

    Oh I made that list really quick and I definitely didn't mean to put that under horrible, I would have put it under bad. I don't know this album exceptionally well so I get song titles mixed up still.

    The song doesn't pull me in emotionally in a way that songs about his addiction like Deja Vu, Going Through Changes, and Spacebound do—it doesn't make me feel invested. I think the monotonous delivery/production/hook of the first part contribute to that.

    I'll listen to it again and read along with the lyrics and let you know what I think about the writing after a close read.

    Yeah definitely nowhere near as good as Deja Vu or Going Through Changes though. Those are 2 of his best since his prime.

    Placing the Alfred Interlude Skit before Those Kinda Nights is unforgivable man.

    ‘This is music....to be murdered by’ then Bizarre appears on the intro to a party track. Terrible placement.

    It is preluding Those Kinda Nights and it’s placement in context of this project. I don’t like the song but the skit makes sense in conjunction with the song to me.

    It's not actually a song meant to pull at your heart strings, though...

    Clearly just a dope piece of music performed with a smooth flow and cool delivery, and written with a very inventive way of describing his relationship with any form of prescription pills.

    It's the type of song you just put on and chill to, doesn't feel like you're supposed to be shedding tears to it.

    The whole song is a masterpiece. He reels you in with the chorus, makes you think it'll be another standard "relationship with a woman track"...and you don't even realize he's been dropping little hints throughout.

    "You just want me for my money
    So I got you wrapped all in saran
    d---, talk about eatin' out the palm of my hand"

    "I can only take so much of you
    All at one time,
    Because too much of you's
    Just too much to swallow sometimes"

    The lyrics, the way he spits it, the beat...the beat switch-up for the third verse...man what a good f---ing song. Best song on the album.

    His flow beginning at the third verse is incredible:

    "So I spiral downwardly
    Cuz I'm too cowardly
    To leave you,
    Head is clouded in a fallacy
    But in reality
    Somehow it seems like
    When I lay me down to sleep
    I'm countin' sheep
    You're bound to creep
    Cuz every time I turn around, you keep
    Runnin' out on me"

    I usually don’t listen to any album in full of any artist, esp. Eminem. But MTBMB doesn’t get boring. I love it so much still.
