Dec 11, 2025 also eminem tries to make every album sound completely different than every other album. many people associate particular eras of his career with what was going on in their lives at the time, so it’s very natural and very personal when people experience nostalgia for a particular era. exponentially so for an artist with such longevity
Dec 11, 2025 So why does every album after Recovery sound like one long a--- boring album? I don’t hear any fluctuality whatsoever except the AI filter on Doss
Dec 11, 2025 All three (or four) are absolutely littered with s-----y verses, choruses and instrumentals.
Dec 11, 2025 I just realized Underground with 1999 voice would sound just like Low Down Dirty. Someone do an AI
Dec 11, 2025 But they been puttin' me through the ringer So I ain't ironin' s--- out with the press Was/is anyone buying this? Eminem pretending to be a media pariah in 2018, never mind one comparable to Trump, was absolutely laughable. He's basically become the Family Guy of rap: he can be as edgy as he wants (or at least as much as his handlers will permit) but nobody f---ing cares anymore. On DoSS at least there's a level of self-awareness that that time has come and gone. In Ringer he just comes off as delusional. Of course, he was also pandering to his Trump supporter fans he basically told to eat s--- and die ("Wait guys, the media hates me too!") but again, who but the most gullible moron was buying that? LOL
Dec 11, 2025 To add to this. Just imagine if he did this song exactly like he did his freestyles in 1999. What brings this song down is that its done in a harsh angry tone. Give it zany Slim Shady voice and cadence and it fits with that era.
Dec 11, 2025 If all you need is clever wordplay to be satisfied, then I find it even harder to take your complaints about GC2 seriously. And yes, some of the rapping in that song is equally if not more impressive than Ringer.
Dec 11, 2025 This bar was about what happened around December 2017 when the whole complex and Joe Budden stuff was going on. The press were hounding revival, and metacritic Rollingstones and those type of outlets were calling revival the signs of being washed up.
Dec 11, 2025 It seemed obvious to me that out of one side of his mouth he was playing up to all the fans he alienated that hate and distrust the media ("I'm watchin' my fan base shrink to thirds ... But if I could go back I'd at least reword it"). But that really fell flat when the only bad press he'd gotten in recent memory was flak over his s-----y music, not over being considered dangerous and controversial.
Dec 11, 2025 Revival era as a whole was panned. Any other rapper and their career would have been over. The lashings were wild online and offline. and the BET chyper was super meme and turn away the Kyle Stan’s. You know the super republicans that think slim shady is what Eminem was about. lol
Dec 11, 2025 Yes men with s-----y ear for music. Rick Ruben shouldn’t have been anywhere near the studio. He fell off as a producer like 15 years ago. Should’ve gave preemo a call or at least tell Dre to give some of those Compton soundtrack demos to em
