May 28, 2026 at 6:42 PM I watched half of Scream 7 last night but was too tired to finish the other half. Hopefully I’m able to finish the other half tonight. Might need to get some caffeine in me.
May 28, 2026 at 6:59 PM Some cool ideas for setpieces in that movie. My main complaint aside from all the drama surrounding the movie is that the series has gone on for so long that it can't even satirize other movies without seeming hypocritical lol
May 28, 2026 at 7:08 PM Yeah honestly I have no real issues with the movie so far, I just had an exhausting day and no caffeine so I couldn’t force myself to stay awake any longer. I think one of the coolest parts so far is when that girl (I think her name was Hannah) was hung above the stage and Ghostface starts forcefully swinging her and then slicing her with his knife as she swings by. I agree these movies have gone on too long and can’t satirize much anymore, tbh so far Scream 7 doesn’t seem very humorous or satirical at all compared to the past films aside from the beginning
May 28, 2026 at 11:17 PM My brother didn't like it much, I actually really really enjoyed my time with it. A lot of people are going to tap out at the 3rd act for being a bit too weird and I almost did but I sort of let it wash over me and appreciated that a movie with this much traction is that strange near the end. Kinda reminded me of Longlegs in that way which is funny cause Osgood Perkins produced this lol
May 29, 2026 at 1:42 AM Scream 7 is not like the first 4 /5 with the self aware meta stuff. Sure it has several throwbacks and easter eggs but the tone is very serious and far from funny or light like the first few. Happy with that though because like u said its kinda hard to still do that after 7 movies without having a completely different story (like the scary movie series).
May 29, 2026 at 2:02 AM Yeah for sure, could have articulated better but that's what I mean. Its gone on for so long that they can't really conceivably do what the franchise was made for. Kinda became was it was doing a commentary on, its more interesting to observe than anything.
May 29, 2026 at 2:14 AM Honestly to me it's like a series now. You want to catch up on whats happening with 'your' characters. It doesn't even have to be really good to be interested, as long as you're invested in the story and the people (like, Gale and Sid have been around for over 2 decades now) it's interesting to keep watching. These movies will never get better I assume, but imo it's very impressive after 7 movies they are still very cool. They had a few different leads, without ruining the original story (like they did w Halloween Thorn s--- or changing stuff) and they kept all the original stuff intact -except S3 to an extent- And the quality remains solid. No other franchise can say that really
May 29, 2026 at 1:12 PM I thought it was really pretty good, and actually better than I expected. Probably be mostly appreciated by the fans, a good sized audience. I loved seeing Sid & other original cast members, and I especially enjoyed how the tech and references got worked in. I’m always disappointed in the identities of the killers, though. And YAY for the fall-ish setting; very Halloween-vibe
May 29, 2026 at 1:59 PM @Marsh here is my review of Scream 7. @Michael Myers @jankland y’all might be interested in this too. I like Scream 7, and I honestly didn’t think I would like it that much. Any hype I had died when I saw the first trailer. But now that I saw the movie I don’t fully understand some of the hate this movie got, aside from political reasons. However, I can understand people not loving this movie. In earlier posts I said I had no major issues with the movie while watching the first half. Well, turns out after seeing the second half I do have a major issue with this movie, but I’ll get to that later. The beginning of the movie was cool. It sets up the movie quite well. The gag with the Ghostface animatronic was clever. A few things I noticed about this movie was that it seemingly relied more on jumpscares than any other Scream movie. It also might be the most humorless movie in the franchise. I would’ve preferred a little bit more humor, but it’s not a big deal. This being a serious movie makes sense. In this movie we explore Sidney Prescott’s family, particularly the relationship with her daughter, Tatum. I wasn’t sure how to feel about Tatum or the mother-daughter relationship at first, but it grew on me and it turned out to be really compelling. The actors have good chemistry, and the scenes were well acted. I actually really like Tatum and want to see her in more movies. If they do well at setting her up to take over her mother’s role, this franchise could go on a lot longer than previously thought. So far so good right? The movie is well acted, compelling, incorporates a modern concept with AI deepfakes in a decent way, and has things about it longtime fans of the franchise can appreciate. The only complaints I had so far are very small, that being the movie is a bit too humorless and a bit too reliant on jumpscares for my liking. Those things aren’t really a big deal though. Now we get to the major issue with this film. Scream 7 is a good movie, but this issue stops it from being great. Spoiler The killer reveal absolutely sucks. These have to be the worst killers in the entire franchise. Normally when the killers are revealed I’m like, “Oh s---!” but here I was just like, “Oh… s---…”. It’s basically these randos. Their motivations really don’t land with me either. The whole movie was leading up to this mediocre moment. If they wanna continue this series they’re gonna need to come up with more creative killers because this was not it. Despite that major issue it’s still a good movie. 7/10 for Scream 7 seems fitting. I could write more about the movie but don’t really feel like it right now lol
May 29, 2026 at 2:43 PM 100% agree @Ripper Roo killers f---ing s--- but the movie itself was good. Not that great and very serious but fine.
May 29, 2026 at 3:41 PM Honestly, I kinda wanna watch the movie again. But I might just rewatch all the movies instead. I think I’m gonna start looking into getting a physical collection
May 29, 2026 at 4:59 PM I'm gonna get the dvd in june and probably gonna watch it for the second time In october (like every year) the whole franchise
May 29, 2026 at 5:05 PM I agree. Just saw a really nice Scream 1 4K steelbook on Amazon. I love steelbooks. I might get it since it appears there isn’t a full 4K physical collection of all the movies. I did see a collection of 1-6, but that was just DVDs not Blu Ray or 4K. There’s some other collections of 1-3 and stuff like that. Lots to consider here
May 29, 2026 at 5:05 PM I didn’t fap that day or yesterday. Honestly I am actually more energized on days that I fap.
May 29, 2026 at 5:14 PM Nice Another good series of movies stars the greatest horror villain of all time.... Frederick Kruger Thee 3rd. I'm sure @Marshall III is a relative.
