Jun 1, 2015 I coulda sworn there was a thread on this already, but whatever it's actually Xbox exclusive, not Xbone exclusive
Jun 2, 2015 it's xbox's moneyhatted uncharted, yeah. since its predecessor was on Ps4 and the series itself was on playstation long before it had a game on xbox
Jun 2, 2015 timed exclusive, no worries there - will play the perfect version when it's finally released on ps4
Jun 2, 2015 yeah. i'm a big fan of uncharted and since it was partly inspired by tomb raider, i should try it out. it's pretty cheap now.
Jun 2, 2015 i'd like to think the exclusive period won't be that long, but the last time Microsoft published a game that ended up coming to PlayStation, it took 5 years (Mass Effect 1) I don't know all the fine details behind that since in between that time, bioware was acquired by ea, so unless it is because they were too busy occupied with other work, one has to wonder why it took that long for it to be ported if it doesn't have something to do with microsoft's previous publishing rights.
Jun 3, 2015 mass effect 1 was a console exclusive for a period 5 years and then was released on Ps3. so it was a timed exclusive.
Jun 3, 2015 not in the traditional sense...when it was first released there was no agreement it would eventually move to PS3, Tomb Raider has this agreement
Jun 4, 2015 I understand that, but the circumstances are similar. microsoft published Me1 for 360, and half a decade later it is published by ea for Ps3. microsoft is also publishing rotr on the xbone.
Jun 4, 2015 microsoft published Me1 on xbox (which ended up being exclusive for years), and they are publishing rotr on xbox...
Jun 4, 2015 and that's where the similarities end...you don't seem to understand that Microsoft never had an agreement that it would eventually be available for Sony - Tomb Raider has this agreement; it will be an exclusive for, at most, a year.
Jun 4, 2015 we don't know the fine details of the deal made between square enix microsoft other than it would come to xbox first. there's nothing to base it on other than previous timed exclusives.we don't know how long the exclusivity period is. one year is just your educated guess. and even if it is just one year...by that point in time there will probably be enough newer Ps4 games that'll grab the interest of Ps4 owners more than rotr which would be a year old game.
Jun 4, 2015 and there was never a deal like that over Mass Effect, exclusivity deals are rarely for more than 1 year.
Jun 4, 2015 well unless ea/bioware was just too busy with other projects (definitely a possibility) one has to wonder why the Me1 Ps3 port took so long to be made available. but yeah, timed exclusivity usually isn't longer than a year at most. we'll see.
Jun 4, 2015 it didn't remain an exclusive, therefore it was a timed exclusive, even if not in the traditional sense. mass effect became a 3rd party series once ea acquired bioware. Me1 was brought to Ps3 the same way Me2 was. only Me2 took one year.
