Jan 10, 2018 I have been on this forum since 2015, reading it since 2013. I remember when MMLP2 came out, there were appreciation threads made for specific songs, but this time the reaction lasted for few days and the hype went down. Why is it the case, you might wonder? Well, let me start with the promotion. The promotion was the worst thing for this album. Imagine if we got Walk On Water teaser before everything. Imagine if the Revival website was gradually developing. River should have been the second single. I am really not understanding why they released Untouchable before everything. River has audio on YouTube, but no video or any promotion. It’s really strange. Anyways, now let’s talk about the album. This is going to be the weirdest comparison, but the album felt like…. Disneyland to me. This was my first impression or thought. Hooks of Alicia Keys, X Ambassadors, and other singers remind of a Disney movie. X Ambassadors sound like they could fit into… Lion King? Strange comparison, but that was the first thing that came to my mind. Hooks have made the listen a great journey. WOW - 10/10 Intro. Although maybe it’s not a great single and it’s not what we expected, it’s a great intro. Believe - 10/10. When I first heard the song, I thought it was beyond amazing. We need more of that. This is Recovery 2. This is like “You Can Own The City” we were waiting for. The “younger days, the dream was fun to chase” line is so good. Chloraseptic - 8/10. Very good song, but his verses are really long. The remix is 9/10. Untouchable - 8.5/10. The hook is very catchy. River - 6/10. Not a fan of the flow or a song. Sometimes it gets playable, but not much. Remind Me (Intro) - this more likely was a track, it was cut. Sounds like it was either a Relapse cut or he was attempting to make a Relapse-type song and it didn’t make it. Remind Me - people really hate it on here, no comments on that. I liked the beat and the hook personally. Didn’t pay attention to lyrics. Revival (Interlude) - It could’ve been a song, or was a song. Strange cut, just like the Intro to Remind Me. Like Home - 9/10 I am not into politics, but Alicia Keys hook is great. And when he says “No place Like Home”, it adds chills. Bad Husband - 10/10 for me. Very emotional. First verse sounds good, third is very emotional. Eminem’s voice here is hoarse, it adds rawness to the song. Mentioning the name of his wife makes it sound real, unlike some metaphors like in STIW. Tragic Endings - 7/10. Recovery cut? Framed - 9/10 Relapse-like track Nowhere Fast - 9/10. Introduces the topic diversity, the singing, in the end, is very emotional. Heat - 8/10 Offended - 8/10. The hook sounds straight from MMLP era. He can still do that voice. The ending fast rapping is really cool. Need Me - 8/10 Pink singing is great. The beat is great. Eminem verse is alright, but it doesn’t have any cringe punchlines! In Your Head - 8.5/10 Enjoyable Castle - 9/10 Arose -10/10. The raw production is enjoyable. Lyrics are on TES level. I loved the switch. Amazing ending. Overall, the album is good. It combined MMLP, TES, Recovery, and MMLP2 styles. The absence of punchlines made it really enjoyable. Eminem changed. Music changes. It's still exciting to get something new! Looking forward to the new album!
Jan 10, 2018 s--- taste I repeat s--- imo Edit: btw there was definitely not an absense of s-----y punchlines either no clue what album u listened to
Jan 10, 2018 The reason I give it that high is because if I played MMLP2 or some Recovery tracks around friends, it was cringy. Heat at least fitted for the New Year party and no one cringed. Everyone liked it.
Jan 10, 2018 This dude tosses out 8, 9s and 10s like we're rating it out of 100, not 10. d---....if most of these songs are in the 8-10 range, wtf is stan then? A 50/10?
Jan 11, 2018 Great review for a classic album. I agree with a lot of it. I personally rated it a bit higher. 9.7 was my rating so nearly perfect! The lyrical content on remind me is actually pretty good you should give it another listen
Jan 11, 2018 I don't think most songs are 8 or 9 out of 10 but I personally enjoy the whole album besides need me and untouchable.
