Aug 26, 2015 Again, this is going to be seen from a point of from Abel to the fans, the OG's. It's really a big reach but it makes sense. Intact the first time I heard this I thought, "this has to be like a new Rolling Stone". Now after doing some research (looking up lyrics on Rap Genius) and forming my hypothesis around that, this is what I came up with. The first verse says "Say it louder, say it louder, Who's gonna love you like me, like me? Say it louder, say it louder, Who's gonna touch you like me, like me?". This is a line sent directly to the OG fans who loudly exclaim "wow, you can tell who all the new fans are" and "this album isn't HOB good" every time he pulls a move or posts something on Instagram. He acknowledges that we love him for his past albums and his rise to success. "Who's gonna touch you like me?" means that he knows so many people came and fell in love with the Balloons Trilogy and Kiss Land because they had relatable songs that touched peoples hearts (i.e. The Knowing, Pretty, Echoes of Silence, Tears In the Rain) and he knows no other artist will ever touch us like he has. The chorus now bluntly exclaims "I don't wanna hurt you but you live for the pain. I'm not tryna say it but it's what you became. You want me to fix you but it's never enough. That's why you always call me cause you're scared to be loved, But I'll always be there for you, I'll always be there for you, I'll always be there for you, girl I have no shame. I'll always be there for you, I'll always be there for you, I'll always be there for you, girl I have no shame". He reads these good reviews about his new albums and songs he puts out by big music blogs but then he reads what the OG fans say about him, and he's sad. He know's we are hurting but he doesn't stop because we do live for the pain. We live for the pain because it's what we fell in love with in the beginning. "You want me to fix you but it's never enough", meaning that he tries to please us but we always criticize him harshly, holding him to the standards of what was past, and not looking forward to the future to new sounds he's bringing us. He then reassures us that he will always be there for us, wether in his new music or his past, because he has no shame in what he's doing. He is wanting to be known for his music, it's not about the money or fame. It's about the art to him and it's always been. Last but not least, the first two lines of the pre - chorus lyrics say, "Ooh, said it'd be the last time, all you needed was a little closure. Ooh, said it'd be the last time but you're begging me to come over, Ooh, come over." He reads our comments, he knows we want a new trilogy, he knows we want a new HOB, but he sticks to his word and tries to give us a new sound every time an album drops thinking it will finally fulfill our thirst. We, as fans, will say that if he doesn't deliver that it'll be the last time we are ever fans of him again, but we keep begging him to deliver and it becomes an endless, vicious cycle between loving his music and hating on it. In conclusion, this is sounding like a retention of Rolling Stone, from Thursday, where he is sending a message to us, musically, saying that he is trying so hard to please every fan he has, but if we continue to judge him harshly and not believe in him, he will eventually have no shame in trying to please everyone because he knows what will happen if he does. Please XO fam, keep an open mind with his new music. we are hurting Abella and eventually he won't care about us anymore if we continue. Spoiler: Spolier TL:DR we are hurting Abella and he wants us to stop and take a few listens to appreciate his music for what it is.
