Feb 3, 2017 Should Kendrick do another concept album? He's done them before and did a great job. But so many great songs can be left off an album if it doesn't fit the concept. GKMC is considered one of the best rap albums of the last decade. But "Cartoons & Cereal" and "collect calls" are considered some of his best songs. And they didn't make the album because they didn't fit the concept. How many more songs like C & C could Kendrick have tucked away that we won't hear because it doesn't fit the concept of the album.
Feb 3, 2017 i see where youre coming from but i like the concept albums ...i think its one of the things that puts Kendrick in his own league. I dont think people understand the amount of effort and dedication it takes to sit down and make a whole album based on a single concept. and for it to sound good...and properly express ideas that others can understand. thats truly a gift right there.
Feb 3, 2017 Those didn't get cut because they didn't fit the concept, they got cut because OG GKMC was two discs. One disc from the perspective of child Kendrick (where Collect Calls, C&C, County Building Blues would've been), and one disc from the perspective of teenage Kendrick (which is now the GKMC we know today). I think Kendrick always has a concept in mind going into an album or a song, things just usually change as the process moves forward and sacrifices have to be made.
Feb 4, 2017 GKMC is only considered a classic album by idiotic 90s kids. You know the kids that started drinking before they went to high school and didn't let their brains develop enough for profound conceptual thoughts? Anybody with a half decent sense of intellect can understand how flawed the album's concept is. Kendrick got straight A's in a high school in Compton, wow that must've been so hard to achieve. Kendrick Cuckworth is the most over-rated rapper of the past decade.
Feb 19, 2017 So what did you do instead of drink? Smoke? Get hit on the head as a baby? GKMC is mostly appreciated by people who grew up on hiphop and are fed up with today's excuse for rap.
Feb 20, 2017 idc as long as it's not primarily jazz inspired, maybe if he can blend it with a more modern sound or something i'll like it more but i just can't stand UU or TPAB for that reason
Feb 20, 2017 GKMC>TPAB. So there's your answer. That album was very cohesive and still bangs hard as f---.
