Dec 22, 2017 On Conway's latest project, his track names are formatted as such: This isn't exactly groundbreaking, mixtapes have classically been more producer forward when it comes to producer credits, but I think the shared parenthesis subtlety does promote the idea that the producer is a primary figure in the song's creation instead of a footnote. What do you think? Would you like to see more prominent producer credits become an industry standard?
Dec 22, 2017 I don't think so because in all honesty the average listener isn't going to care or know who produced a song most of the time.
Dec 22, 2017 I always delete producer tags when they're on song titles just because it clutters things up. I would say they need an overhaul in terms of how they tag mp3s (the 'composer' tag is used for producers a lot, but who the h--- has their viewing options to show 'composer' alongside 'artist' and 'album?' Would be cool to be able to sort iTunes by producer, though filling all those in in the 20k songs I have would be a b----) but at this point it'd need to be for streaming. Maybe they should put producers where they put featured artists, like Takeoff and Offset below:
Dec 22, 2017 im torn because i really hate the way it looks in itunes but then again when im listening to something and i hear a beat that makes me go holy s--- and there's no producer tag it pisses me off to no end. especially if it's not easy to find on google.
Dec 22, 2017 really depends on the producer in my opinion. If you have a big name on a track, then list it. If it's an unknown cat, leave it off.
Dec 22, 2017 I don't know if it's a unknown producer I have never heard of.. I would like to know who it is when I really like his production.
Dec 22, 2017 On second thought, the most comparable situation is with jazz, and that was never really a problem when people cared about the players as much as the composers or band leaders, and dug into credits for them. Was that ever something they had to address from the top down? @Big Cuntry 's solution via streaming services seems easy enough though.
