Jul 23, 2020 Gotta say, loving this new series. Keep it up @Grimace. Some of the fellows may tease u sometimes but this is a dope effort and shows why ur a next wave legend. keep it up, and keep striving for that god flame. voted Kanye btw
Jul 23, 2020 Easy win for Drive Slow for me. The Pac song is great obviously, Em’s would be better as a solo song through I have a soft spot for SSEP era Em. Don’t remember what the j Cole song sounds like lol
Jul 23, 2020 you can dismiss the cole off the bat. i really like the eminem verse but that song (and the flip—it’s like stock mixtape derivation) doesn’t stand up to the other two, either. i’m picking the pac song, because it’s a better record and came first, but this is close. i love when kanye chops and screws the beat at the end.
Jul 23, 2020 Drive Slow by 1000000000000000. One of the first Kanye songs I fell in love with. Used to blast this on my iPod mini as a 11 year old 6th grader in the fall of 2005
Jul 23, 2020 I cosign @Boos The fact that he got a Paul Wall verse and DJ Screw gets mentioned makes it an easy pick for me.
Jul 23, 2020 it’s amazing how, on the pac song, they add one synth line and mix the saxophone to sound like a second one
Jul 23, 2020 one of the best beats Pac has rapped on imo. very close between Drive Slow and Shorty Wanna Be A Thug for me.
Jul 23, 2020 Has to be Kanye out of the choices. Followed by Cole. Late registration was so good dammit
Jul 23, 2020 Em’s song was great, seemed much more comfortable in this poll compared to Cole’s lol. It’s very tough between Pac & Ye’s song, I personally went with Kanye’s since I love how it continues to escalate with each proceeding verse, Ye always had a gift for getting the best out of his guests (shoutout to TI’s stellar verse on the remix).
Jul 23, 2020 Pretty dope idea @Grimace Although Kanye wins anything hes involved with sample wise lol
Jul 23, 2020 i think kanye’s verse is one of the best of his career, but it’s striking to hear how much better pac is as a performer
Jul 23, 2020 Pac has to be the greatest of all time in that sense. No question to me. He demands your attention on songs
Jul 23, 2020 definitely. i always thought kanye, while def charming on the mic, was wayyy less effortless than someone like pac, who seemed borne to do it. i was just listening to 'i need a girl pt 2' and had a similar thought about puffy - theres something affected or w/e about a producer assuming the emcee role. took kanye a little bit to rly have that level of power edit - ofc pac had that theatrical training from childhood baked in
