May 3, 2017 Kendrick Lamar does what J. Cole thinks he does. K. makes music with deep meaning while still being bangers with incredible replay value. Cole's last 2 albums were B O R I N G. On FHD I only liked 3 songs. On the last one I liked ZERO songs off it. Cole is overrated and his major stans need to f--- off lol
May 3, 2017 Cole touches on everyday, relatable and inspiring stories. So does Kendrick. Neither one are particularly "deep." The "you have to have a certain level of intelligence to be a Cole fan" people are the fringe fans of Cole. Stupid to say that and it doesn't represent all Cole fans. You want deep? Go read Noam Chomsky, listen to Richard Dawkins speak, watch some George Carlson stand up specials and watch some Secular Talk clips.
May 3, 2017 @Murder Mitten And it's Kendrick's particular style (experimental production/unorthodox song structures, variety of voices) that appeals to music critics. Cole probably has more everyday fans overall, but Kendrick gets praise from the critics and has the backing of the media behind him. Cole has the backing of the people. Guarantee you Cole's next album outsells d---. He almost did with 4YEO and it's his least mainstream project with the least pre-release promotion.
May 3, 2017 Overall I like J cole. Just not that last album. It was missing the bangers like Villuminati. The two songs he dropped before his last album I liked them both. I wanted more songs like that. Like the song Folding clothes was just corny as h--- to me. The content of his album just wasn't for someone like me I guess. His first few mixtapes were A1 and that's how I'll always think of Cole not by his albums
May 18, 2017 TL; DR Atheism=deep That isn't deep; it's science. Deep is introspective and reflective thoughts. Songs like Keisha's Song, Sing for Me, U, Feel, and Pride are all deep.
