my boy zep with the classic thread i love mysteries so ill let that reddit link pass
West Memphis 3 is a good mystery
3 children were murdered, sexually mutilated and tortured in Tennessee. Media and police said it was SRA (satanic ritual abuse) and arrested 3 teenagers shortly after. it's a lot like the case from Making a Murderer in a lot of ways, the only real concrete evidence against them was the fact that one of the 3 boys confessed to it, but a lot of people believe it was a false confession and he's obviously mentally delayed when you hear him talk, so it probably wouldn't be hard to coerce him into making a false confession.

there are some documentaries on the case, but they're all incredibly biased towards making the 3 look good.

^that's part one of the first movie in the Paradise Lost trilogy. Part 2, and then the second movie and third movie are all in the side bar on youtube. It covers the case overall, and the trials of the 3 boys. The second movie in the series I dont like as much because it's less about the crime and trial and more about suggesting another person could have done it, and framing it so it looks like he did it for sure. the third one does that too, when the lead from the 2nd doesn't pan out, but it also has their appeals and how their final chance to get their convictions overturned pans out. They're interesting but there's so much left out of them just like making a murderer (steve avery guilty as s--- btw) that they're not really credible sources of information. still a great starting point if you're interested in the case at all, and if you want to read more into it afterwards you can. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I believe they're innocent. right now i'm moreso leaning towards them being guilty.

peter jackson also made a documentary on them called West of Memphis, and it's a lot more biased than the paradise lost series, if you're super into the case it's worth a watch but there's nothing new in it, really.

i love these kinds of things. anyone who knows any good documentaries on this kinda stuff hit me up.
