Aug 23, 2016 Definitely the fastest man in the world. I don't know, it's hard to compare athletes in different sports. Not sure how many would agree with my but I'd have LeBron up there, he's a freak of nature. With his height and being that fast and strong.. it's unfair.
Aug 23, 2016 I'm sure there are a lot of people in the NFL that have crazy athleticism. Don't really follow the sport though.
Aug 23, 2016 Yeah I just love sprinting more than almost any sport. So the best sprinter to me is also the best athlete
Aug 23, 2016 Usain bolt broke all of his records while easing up to celebrate before the race even finished. His 200M record is 19.19, which is about 2*9.6 The 100m record is 9.58.......Meaning he practically cruised at a record breaking 100m speed for twice the distance, and he still hasn't run at his full potential. He's old now so he wont be re-breaking the records, but he was pretty phenomenal.
Aug 23, 2016 Yeah I would too, just depends what your criteria is I guess. Being a freak type athlete with elite skills is what I'd consider. Guys like MJ, Bron, Bo Jackon, Deion Sanders etc. All Bolt can do is run, mostly straight, really really fast. Not trying to hate on him because he's arguably the GOAT at his sport, but to me the best athlete of all time has to be more skilled than that.
Aug 24, 2016 His ability to run corners is legendary. Before running 100 and 200 he spent his youth running 400m and breaking junior records for it (although those records have since been repeatedly smashed). It's not just raw speed, it's also his stamina. The reason he is so fast isn't really beaause his maximum speed is faster than anyone else, it's because once the runners reach their full speed they only slow down, and the winner is the one who maintains his speed the longest. Maintaining a 100m speed over 2 distances is mindboggling. Not really, first and foremost you shouldn't assume that Usain bolt has no skill, Professional sprinting requires more than raw speed, it requires great technique . Try running at the absolute fastest you possibly could without losing control and falling over. It takes a lot of balance training and upper body strength. Running corners is even harder. If you think there is no measure of skill involved in sprinting then you understand nothing of the sport. Not saying bolt is the greatest, but saying he needs to show 'skill' is a poor argument.
Aug 24, 2016 I sprinted in high school. While I'm no Usain Bolt, it really doesn't take that much technique. The hardest part is getting a good jump off of the starting blocks. You're not going to fall over when you've already established a pace though lol. And corners are not that difficult, it's not like you're struggling to stay in your lane
Aug 24, 2016 Tell that to the fastest american in history. Regardless, i'm not going to take the time to explain to you how drag works.
Aug 24, 2016 There's more to being an athlete than running, but he's definitely up there. That being said, it's pretty obvious who the greatest athlete of all time is
Aug 24, 2016 If you overextend your stride to try to keep up with someone with longer legs, then yeah you can fall, but that's you're own fault, and you can obviously trip over yourself or someone else, but you can do that while walking too. He's the greatest sprinter of all time, not the greatest athlete. I'm not saying he just shows up and runs then takes off the rest of the year. I know they have to practice a lot.
Aug 24, 2016 No s---, I said that. I'm saying running isn't the same as getting blitzed by giant line backers and DE's in your face, scrambling out and still making a perfect pass to a double teamed wide receiver. That's my point, sprinting doesn't take as much skill as other sports. It takes mostly natural speed
Aug 24, 2016 Agree to disagree. I feel like you're not reading my posts. Never said it was easy and doesn't require practice, but compared to most other sports it doesn't take as much skill. Tell me a football player, soccer player, boxer doesn't require way more skill then running.
