May 12, 2021 2015 - 2017 was a mini golden age in hip hop imo and all the TDE dropped played a big part in it. I fondly remember all the front benchers in TDE dropping projects with a year time span and they were mostly classic. Do What Thou Whilt. Underrated and weird album. Every song sounds like no other song ever created, yet the album maintains the same feel the entire length. Soul reminds me if Hov on this in the way he hitting all the double/triple entendres on this. There's a lot of depth and replay value in this one. The Suns Tirade. GOAT album. When it first came out, I wasn't amazingly impressed and thought CD was better. But it grew a lot on me and I now think it's his best piece of work. Whole album has a wavy atmosphere. Great album to smoke to. Black Face LP. Probably my favourite schoolboy album. Insane production and full of bangers. There's just a couple low points on this that stop it from being a truly classic album. d---. Undeniably a great album.....but I don't know what is but I never really come back to this album and when I do I struggle to finish it. Album starts off with a GOAT intro but nothing really matches the first song imo. Ctrll. Never really got into SZA so can't comment on this. Maybe I will give it another spin. My personal rankings would probably be 1. DWTW 2. Suns Tirade 3. Blank face 4. d--- 5. Ctrl
May 12, 2021 All of them are great, no question about that. Commercially, d--- was probably the worst out of all of them but it's a guilty pleasure of mine. Blank Face was by far my favourite when it dropped. I never got into The Sun's Tirade that much. I'd probably rank them in this order: 1. Blank Face 2. Do What Thou Wilt 3. d--- 4. CTRL 5. Sun's Tirade But all of these albums are 8.5+/10 and I'd probably change that order multiple times a day! I need to re-listen to Sun's Tirade in preparation for the new album.
May 14, 2021 I think the highs here could be top spot but the second half of album after Dressed like Rappers just plummets, I dont ever listen to the outro or the song after it either
May 15, 2021 d--- by d--- mile. The more time goes by the more i think it might be my favorite Kendrick album. TST is also an amazing album though, Blank Face, Ctrl and DWTW are all dope too
