Mar 15, 2016 I think Kendrick has evolved so quickly from 2012 to 2016, it is truly incredible. And I still thinks he makes great music, but its now nothing for me. His whole GKMC style was so different compared to TPAB (me mainstream victim, only dig king kunta and i) and when I watch those live perfomances I get goosebumpsx1000. Crowd control at its finest I reaaally wish his next major solo project will go away from the jazz influenced TPAB stuff, but I rly doubt it
Mar 15, 2016 I prefer the new goat kendrick and yeah you're right, his producer confirmed kendrick is gonna keep the jazz stuff, also said kendrick understands hes at his best in this lane (which is true)
Mar 15, 2016 I thought i was gonna read Kendrick is now trash compared to GKMC or something along those lines but FairPlay I 100% agree with this thread I still love Kendricks music now but jeeez GKMC was on another level I wish he would go back to that but I don't mind if he doesn't Kendrick could probably switch to any style and still excite me
Mar 15, 2016 but the new kendrick is the old kendrick. If anything, hes making the music he was always supposed to make.
Mar 15, 2016 I don't miss him, he has become a much better artist and now understands hes made for that jazz/funk lane. Well, his first music was like this, but now he fully embrace it
Mar 15, 2016 Sorry bro, but the only kendrick I f--- with is the one on O.D., TPAB & UU With that being said, I can understand why you would enjoy gkmc-ish kendrick more if you are, like you said, a maisntream victim.
Mar 15, 2016 Exactly. The subject matter is different on pretty much every album but the seeds of Kendrick Lamar motivation to make that jazzy music were planted well before GKMC dropped.
Mar 15, 2016 I miss the old Kendrick, Straight from Section 80 Kendrick Back seat freestyling Kendrick, good kid in a mad city Kendrick I hate the new Kendrick, the jazz Kendrick I miss the dope Kendrick I gotta to say, at that time I'd like to meet Kendrick.
Mar 15, 2016 Tbh Kendrick's found his niche a long time ago. it's also the typical LA sound from the early days. Also, who better to have in your circle than Thundercat, Kamasi Washington, Flylo and Terrance Martin? I was happy to learn that kdot is gonna keep making the same kind of music (probably gonna explore different eras of jazz though, dude ain't gonna stick to the 70s)
Mar 15, 2016 I don't miss him at all. Now he makes the uncompromised music he really wants to make. Also, I'm the complete opposite, I don't like mainstream rap anymore.
Mar 15, 2016 Also, one of the reasons kendrick is praised like this is because he never tries to make the same album twice, he doesn't try to replicate his previous s---.
Mar 15, 2016 If I want to listen to basic yet dope funk kendrick, I'll revisit his pre od songs If I wantto listen to sxn80, I can listen to s80..if I want to listen to kendrick on his typical outkast s---, or a more mainstream version of kednrick with bangers, I can revisit gkmc...if I want to listen to classic jazz/funk/rap, I can listen to TPAB. now I want to listen to blues/rap, hopefully kendrick's next album is like this
Mar 15, 2016 I love the new Kendrick, I love the old Kendrick, I want kendrick to keep on doing what he has been
Mar 15, 2016 Y'all ain't appreciating a hard working artist who trynna mix sou/rnb sounds to his music SMH don't be so close-minded let the man mature.
Mar 15, 2016 He the same person he was 4 years ago ain't nothing changed but his beats & I'm knowing he didn't want to keep the same style because we were going to get tired of his style eventually
