    Title.

For the record I don't think anyone can predict what exactly they are gonna do in some sort of situation. But a lot of people say s--- like 'I'd take a bullet for ....' and I'm curious how y'all feel about this.

Very few. If I had children or if it was my sister and the scenario was me or them then yes I can confidently say I'd choose myself.

EDIT: To elaborate, it's just an instinct. I've not saying I'm tough or anything, it's just almost a reflex wired in me. Whatever the scenario is if it was me or them I wouldn't even think about it (almost intentionally). Also I'd rather die than live with knowing I was the reason someone important to me died because of this hypothetical scenario.

I would think so for my immediate loved ones.

Like Ricky said it depends on what type of situation it was, and like Shuddy I wouldn't want myself to be the reason why someone died either.

A lot of people when asked this say "Of course I would" but when it really comes down to it, a lot of them wouldn't.

It also depends on the situation. Like if it's a decision you have to make in a few seconds or something you have time to think about.

In my current situation I would have to say no. But if I had children the answer might be different.

What if it's a crazy scenario like in Saw 2 where someone has to jump in a pit full of needles to find a key? lol.

Or lets say you only have 2 options. First option is your loved one gets an instant death with no suffering. The second option is you get tortured for months in the worse way imaginable.

I don't think many people factor in those crazy scenarios when asked this question.

Most of us think of an instant death.

Nah, I did. I know what you mean, most people assume it's like someone pointing a gun to one or the other's head. Like I said, it'd be pretty hard living with the fact you could have saved the life of a loved one but chose your own, which is what would be a huge factor in my decision. This is also literally only for like my sister or my future children.

Obviously I don't know how I'd really react in such a situation but would sacrifice my life for people I care about, atleast this option crosses my mind.
Yeah but those are the most unlikely scenarios imaginable lol. Usually someone stabs, shoots or drives into you. Nobody acts like Jigsaw (and if so, they wouldn't be smart enough to even prepare such a scenario).
