Jul 20, 2016 One of the gems on Encore, Yellow Brick Road is a engaging tale of his harsh upbringings and the history behind Foolish Pride. I feel like this is storytelling self-conscious Em at his best. Plus the singy songy flow in the 2nd verse is GOAT Sometimes I sticl up a thumb just to hitchhike Just to get picked up or get me a lift up 8 mile and Vandyke steal a gotdamn bike From somebodys backyard drop it off at the park That was the halfway mark to me Kim had to walk Back to her mommas in chalmers after dark Would sneak me in the house when I got kicked out my mom's That's about the time I first met proof with goofy gary on the steps said Is bored handin out some fliers Talent Show at centerline high I told him to stop by and check us out sometime He looked at me like I'm out my mind Shook his head like white boys don't know how to rhyme I spit out a line rhymed birthday with first place and we both had the same rhymes that sound alike We was on that same s--- that big daddy kane s--- that compound syllable sound combined From that day we was down to ride Somehow we knew we'd meet again somewhere down the line
Jul 20, 2016 among the many worthless uninspired kindergarten tier tracks on the album this ones a breath of fresh air. focused & engaging; prob my fav Encore track.
Jul 21, 2016 Song is extremely cringeworthy. And that's coming from somebody who thinks Encore is too hated on.
Jul 21, 2016 Just re-listened It's pretty average tbh, especially compared to some of the better tracks on the album
Jul 22, 2016 One of the best songs on the album, though that's really not saying much. The hook is terrible.
Jul 22, 2016 You're my dude, but Encore deserves every ounce of hate it gets, minus Spend Some Time (Eminem is the only good part of this song), Never Enough, Like Toy Soldiers. Yellow Brick Road is OK, I guess. Pretty forgettable to me.
