So I totally dig the idea of paying homage to the ones that came before. The legends and the old school. Recognize where you came from, where hip hop came from. I get that. But this... man, this track seems so corny. It's like a pop-hop homage to the old school when hip hop was far from pop. I wonder how many of the OGs they mimicked (or honored, call it what you will), would hate being referenced in this.

But when I think of paying homage, or honoring tradition, I look at a track like:

I guess, bottom like, it comes down to the fact that "Yesterday" seems too poppy to be sincere. idk, does that make sense?
